One Joke Too Many

One Joke Too Many

It's pathetic! He dropped that bomb and strutted off before I could fire back. I could hardly believe my ears that such boneheaded words came from the man I have loved for years. His so-called 'cozy winter promos' were just a table with free cups of cheap black coffee and some giveaway gloves out front. The coffee often went cold, untouched, and those gloves ended up in the street bin. However, Seth, of course, thought they were pure gold. Somehow, I was the one cashing in on Lily's ideas!

Just for Fun, He Said

Just for Fun, He Said

"I knew right then she wasn't cut out for the big leagues." That was a recital when I was eight years old. It was my first time facing such a large audience, and I did get stage fright. But Rhys was the first one to rush onto the stage to comfort me back then. He told me, "Maeve, you played wonderfully. Those people just don't understand music." Now he was using it to humiliate me. Laughter echoed through the room, and my cheeks burned. He was mocking me in public, turning my past humiliation into a punchline.

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

God. Joining in. Fair. Becoming someone. Reasonable honestly. For the next hour Lily turned herself into a professional comedian. God. Everything became material. Fair. Faces. Voices. Reasonable. Falling over dramatically. God. Pretending to trip. Fair. Making animal sounds. Reasonable honestly. Peanut rewarded most of it with laughter. God. Tiny wonderful laughter. Fair. The house had never sounded happier. Reasonable. Then later, after the excitement settled, Lily sat beside her sister quietly.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

When the house fell silent

When the house fell silent

Comic Relief Just as the house settled into uneasy quiet , Aubrey’s middle child ran into the living room in pajamas, holding a plastic dinosaur. “Look!” the boy shouted. “My dinosaur is eating homework!” He shoved the toy into Sandra’s notes, growling loudly. Sandra groaned. “Hey! That’s Gray’s Anatomy, not Jurassic Park.” Even Abby laughed this time, shaking his head. “At least the kid has the right idea—dinosaurs over cadavers.” The laughter was brief but real, and for that night, it softened the weight pressing on them all.

The Deserted Bride

The Deserted Bride

Edgar said. Audrey didn’t expect it, and she almost puked out all the food she had. She felt as if she was watching a comedy show where Edgar was trying to make her laugh but failed, it was cringe. With his toothy smile and dark eyebrows moving up and down, Audrey found it cringe-worthy.

So You Think Your Sister's a Vampire?

So You Think Your Sister's a Vampire?

“Emma, come here.” “But, I need to….” She tried to pull away from me. I knew she wanted to set her books down, and I knew she hated that I was touching her, but I needed my friends fixed, both of them, and there was only one person who could do that. He was telling a story as we approached, and I didn’t want to interrupt, but I also couldn’t wait too long either. “And then, wouldn’t you know it, but that bear totally left my lunchbox alone and ate every last crumb of my brother’s sandwich!” The kids standing around Mr. Horton’s desk laughed as if that was the funniest thing they’d ever heard in their lives. “And that’s why you don’t always have to be fast—you just have to be faster than the

The Sin Between US

The Sin Between US

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. Even if I’m a walking disaster, at least I’m never boring. And who knows? Maybe all these little moments will add up to something pretty awesome in the end.” Gift grinned mischievously. “Absolutely! And hey, if all else fails, we can always write a book about our epic college misadventures and become famous for it. ‘The Chronicles of Clumsy College: Adventures in Chaos and Caffeine’ sounds like a bestseller, don’t you think?” We all burst into laughter again, the idea growing funnier by the second. The room was filled with an infectious energy, a blend of friendship, humor, and the thrill of discovering life’s unpredictable beauty.

The Dawn Falls

The Dawn Falls

“But they were only here during special occasions and long holidays. They’re busy with their job.” He started walking and I copied him. I didn’t bring my phone and earbuds with me. The last time I listened to an audiobook while running with a companion was a disaster. Jay thought I was having an anxiety attack because of my facial reaction to the thriller book I was listening to. I don’t want Angelo to think of me like that. “Are your brother and sisters are also like you?” I hate asking the obvious. If there’s a habit I would like to erase, that would be it.

The Alpha’s Cast-out princess.

His booming voice filled the air with glee, As he entertained us, setting spirits free. "Let's say old time jokes, shall we?" Chants of 'yes' sounded around the room. "Did you hear about the vampire who opened a bakery? He got into a lot of trouble because his cakes were always too bloody." The room erupted with laughter, a joyful sound, As we all shared in the mirth that went around. Stephanie chimed in with a witty remark, Adding to the humor, making the atmosphere spark. Frequently Asked Questions

Laughing until my sides hurt is my favorite pastime, and one audiobook that never fails to deliver is 'Good Omens' by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. The narration by Martin Jarvis is pure gold—his timing and character voices, especially for Crowley and Aziraphale, elevate the already witty script. The absurdity of the apocalypse being derailed by a misplaced Antichrist and a fussy angel-demon duo is comedy perfection.

What makes it stand out is how it balances satire with heart. The footnotes (yes, even those are hilarious in audio form) and the running gags about bureaucracy in heaven and hell had me rewinding just to catch every detail. If you enjoy dry British humor with a side of existential silliness, this one’s a must-listen.
