"Let's go. We'll shop elsewhere." The encounter left me uneasy for the rest of the day. Even while cooking dinner for Charles, my mind wandered as I was preoccupied with what had happened. Sensing my distraction, Charles took my hand and said reassuringly, "As long as I'm here, I won't let anyone hurt you." I looked at him and nodded, but the weight of such a life-ruining situation lingered. If Charles ever found out about my past with Peter, would he still care for me?

Jean marveled, "Max, is this your magic staff? It's getting bigger! It feels so good to touch. Why is my whole body getting so hot? This is unbearable." Her face drifted closer, warm breath spilling over me. Every pore on my body opened wide. The desire inside me was nearly at its peak. My hands clenched into fists, every muscle locked tight, fighting the craving that bored into my bones. "Mr. Niemann? Mr. Niemann?" A staff member, noticing my silence, cleared his throat. "Is there something wrong with the report?" The voice snapped me back to reality, wrenching me from the pleasure. That was close. Too close.

Before I could respond, she pulled me toward the bedroom, climbed on top of me, and moved against me with familiar confidence. She tried everything again. However, I had no reaction whatsoever. It was strange. When Hannah touched me, it was like my body was on fire. Now, with Alara, I felt completely numb. Perhaps it was just familiarity. Maybe we had long passed that stage of excitement. Alara unzipped my pants, only to find me completely flaccid. A look of confusion crossed her face. "Didn't you just go for treatment? Why aren't you reacting? You're not hard at all."

That afternoon, I got Evan to hand the divorce papers to Zach. I changed the locks at home, too. Then, I went straight to my parents' place to tell them about Zach's situation. I only told them about how Zach had an affair. I did not dare to mention that Zach had killed me once. I was afraid my parents would not be able to take it. Thankfully, my father was still influential. He quickly took back Zach's power and fired all the people Zach had gotten to his side.

Beta David shouted forcefully, and we all fell silent. Theo stared at him with his mouth open, then looked at me as if he saw me differently, and finally left the room. However, I looked my brand-new father straight in the eye. “What did you just say?” I asked carefully. I had doubts; the reality was that I didn't know exactly the circumstances of the affair he had with my biological mother. The story wasn't something everyone talked about, but hearing the truth of something as surprising as that threw me off balance. Beta David sighed and sat down in a chair, then looked at me fearfully.

Rita's pov I had a strange feeling all day yesterday. After Lee drove out of the compound, I could not move from my chair at the dining table. My legs felt too heavy, like they knew what I had almost done. Lee had nearly caught me with Gaius, my secret boyfriend. If he had seen us together, my marriage would be over. That was when my mother called. I told her everything, every bit of it. Honestly, her quick thinking helped me escape trouble yesterday. But then, Eleanor called right after. I had no idea it was her until Lee barged into my room without warning. If Gaius had gotten me pregnant, why was I still so nervous? As my mother’s call was about to end, I rushed to speak.

He had looked very confused and slightly uncomfortable when she came in and had almost rejected her at first until Leia had claimed to be one of the benefits of attending the summit. After that, he had been very enthusiastic about her presence. Noel Collins, the emissary, had seemed almost rapturous as he ran his hands across her body. Her skin had crawled at his touch but she only had to wait a few minutes before he had received a phone call saying that his house was on fire.

After he told me the Mizuki islands and the tale of the cannibal werewolves are true, I have become very invested in the outcome of this search. “Me too.” He says. He is done setting the table and he extends a hand, coming over towards me suddenly. I do something stupid, flinching away from his hand for no good reason. My heart pounds as he stops and he folds his arms in front of me and pins me with a stare. “Alright, talk to me. What’s wrong?” My mouth opens and closes and goddamn it, I don’t have a good reason for flinching. It’s not like I think he will ever hurt me but... I’m still overwhelmed by my discoveries.

•KINLEY• A week had gone by since I arrived in Bali and Billie called to let me know she would be arriving. Matius had been showing me around often, and we would meet for coffee from time to time. I called him to let him know he should join us when Billie arrived. I was sure the two of them would hit it off well. I was still hurting every time I thought about Gianni, but my therapist assured me that this was completely normal. Gianni had texted me a few times since our phone call, but I was doing better at no contact now.

I rushed into Drew’s room in my robe and lucky he was awake already sitting on his bed with his laptop in hand, he seemed a bit surprised as he looked at me but said nothing. ‘’I have an ideal Drew.’’ I said to him immediately I caught my breath and took a seat on his bed. ‘’Spill.’’ He said to me, his gaze still fixed on what he was doing. ‘’Do you remember the book you gave me at home to read when I was 12? CONSPIRACY that was its title, you told me you once read it and found it interesting. You remembered how ‘BABRA the witch was captured by the king’s daughter?
