Gamer For Life Novels & Stories

"I raced drones. The reflexes from racing make piloting a mech easy. It's like a big game to me!" "Everything's a game to you, Kitt!" Alyx remarked, eliciting a round of chuckles from the table. "Alright, Alyx," Kedrick replied, "then it's your turn to play. Tell Dan here what you did to get so good with a long-range weapon." "Embroidery," Alyx replied. The table was silent.

His messages never failed to make me laugh on a daily basis. Having been an online gamer since the age of fifteen, I had accumulated a wealth of experience by now, at twenty-eight. My day job was in game development, if you could even call it that. I lacked friends who weren't gamers, so we rarely socialized outside of our homes. I eagerly launched the game that Alex and I always played, holding my breath in anticipation. Work had been incredibly demanding with a looming deadline, and my boss constantly breathing down my neck. Strangely enough, after a stressful day of creating games, all I wanted to do was sit and play one for the entire night.

However, he still kept his smile. "What did you say? Are you courting death?" Gerald demanded angrily. "I seem to remember an account called Another Day when I watched a live stream the other day. That person arrogantly said he wanted to compete against My Dear to gift the streamer. He thought he was awesome after gifting five Cash Guns to the streamer. He even made arrogant remarks in the live stream, but he was defeated after My Dear gifted the streamer 11 Super Spaceships. At last, he left silently. Mr. Matthews, do you know that loser?"

“I’m not taking it back, Lexi. I love you. I want you, Lexi.” “You are scaring me. Why are you reacting like that? I’m sure no one will want a female with a son. So it should be easy...” “I’m not an Alpha or a Beta. I’m just a Gamma.” I tried to say it clearly, despite my tears. “A Gamma has no right to enter the Claiming Arena.”

She clicked to see what they sent. "You must be a beauty based on your username," Ur007Man wrote. "Hmmm, could be," Leah replied. "Mr. Bond, can I call you James?" The user immediately went back online shortly after the app sent her reply. Three dots were juggling on-screen. Leah could tell he was typing. "Even better," he replied. "You can call me yours." Leah smiled. "This could work," Leah thought. A quick fix was what she needed right now. "Okay, Mr. Bond," she replied. "Name your time and place."

My head was a mess. Gaming was my usual safe haven. My Zen space. The one place where a little wimp like me could be a powerful martial artist or a world-class athlete at the flick of a button. I sat down in my gaming chair, put on my headset, and loaded up Mortal Kombat 11. Time to kick some ass! I found my favorite lobby where serious gamers hung out and opened a challenge. I chose Liu Kang, the world’s greatest warrior. My opponent chose Skarlet, the blood witch.

Later we would all Meet on the beach with Dad, For our marking ceremony. They had transformed our living room into a gamer's paradise. Sam, Lucas, Brent, Lyra, and Naki all gathered together, each with their high-tech gaming chairs positioned in front of the massive widescreen TV/monitor. The room was aglow with the soft hum of consoles, and the excitement of friendly competition. The air was electric with anticipation as we embarked on an all-day gaming marathon, fueled by snacks, drinks, and our shared passion for adventure. We spent the whole day gaming when Dad mindlinked with all of us.

“No you didn't. The Adam I know has always been a lover of games. How could you have just stopped having any interest in games? I find that hard to believe, you know.” “As expected. I knew you wouldn't believe me. Jamie, I thought gaming was something I wanted to do all my whole life. But at some point, I realized that it's not all I actually wanted to do. Now there is more responsibility to think of.” “Goodness! I thought Theo was actually the only one with the thoughts. But it seems, you also have a lot to do with it.” “You should try to be me, so you'll understand what I'm trying to say.”

He had to be the only 18-year-old male virgin left in the world. He may not have ever gotten a girl naked or had sex, but he knew all about how to please a girl. Thanks to his second geeky habit. His first was that he was a gamer. He played online FPS and RPG games all the time. He wasn't stupid, but he wasn't one of the super smart, head of the class nerds either. Not because he wasn't smart, he just wasn't willing to waste his time doing busy work when he had an almost photographic memory. If he heard or read something or saw it, he knew it.
