Today she had opted to let the garment hang to its more sedate length just above the knee, and the only gold gracing her body was a gold-linked necklace to fill the boat neckline and matching gold earrings in her ears.
“How did you manage to get all of your hair up in that particular style, I have no idea,” he said, frowning at her French roll. “Did you cut your hair?”
Bemused by his suddenly accusing tone, Genie stilled. Why should he care if she'd had her hair cut?
“No,” she replied, struggling to remain calm. “I've had plenty of practice at putting my hair up.”
