Evergreen
A pair of reading glasses, a copy of To Kill A Mockingbird, a few pencils, a necklace, a bottle of something shoved to the back, the end of the bottle hardly in view.
I pulled out the bottle and in a split second tried to read the label, but couldn't make out the tiny words in time.
I handed Genevieve the thermometer and shut the drawer, holding the little bottle behind my back, trying to act as casually as I could.
