She nodded as if she was talking to herself. “Yes, this is me, slut and shitty woman.” Heart said with a poker face looking at the reflection. Meanwhile, Georgia could not answer the call because a client had booked her. Georgia’s POV: I am booked tonight. This is a new client. We are now at the hotel. The moment we entered the room, I closed the door. Then I saw him looking at me when I turned around. He had already begun unbuttoning his shirt's top buttons and kicking his shoes off. I moved toward him to take over. He pulled me against him and ran his hands over my body.

Somewhere in the city—several stories above, in a steel and glass building—Julian Blackwood lay in his dark, sleek bedroom, staring at the book she had given him. He'd never intended to keep it. When Lena Carter had offered it to him—those gentle words, that thoughtful crease between her eyebrows—he'd intended to refuse. But something in her eyes had taken away his intention. It was neither flirting nor pretense. It was genuine. Silent. Generous. He hated kindness. It broke things open. Julian gazed down at the book. The cover was unadorned, the title in gold print: *A Man Called Ove*. He remembered Lena's words:

Ben whispers into my ear, his fingers stroking my hair. —————————- “Do you really think he is going to die? I haven’t read the book, but I hope he doesn’t. I don’t even have the time to read books anymore, goddamnit.” I sigh, staring at the fourth page of the book Georgia was reading before I got here. Georgia stares at me unimpressed. “I haven’t even read that part yet, Lary! Who picks up a person’s book and starts to read from the middle?” she whines.

“We need to find her. Now.” Tanner nodded, already moving to carry out Maxton’s orders. But even as he left the room, Maxton could not shake the image of Georgia’s silver eyes from his mind. How they pierced through the camera, sharp, and terrifying; and powerful, that even several thousands of miles away from him, and a tablet screen in between, he felt like she could see through him.

Benny was droning about something again. “Benny, shut up for a moment.” He stopped mid-sentence, looking affronted but paying attention anyway. “I gotta tell you something.” As Georgia launched into the tale of how she had first seen Hayden that morning, Benny’s face wore all the expressions of shock and confusion she’d felt herself. When she was done, Benny openly stared at Hayden with his lip curled into a smirk. Georgia could almost see the wheels turning and the satisfaction he gleaned from knowing there were chinks in Hayden’s seemingly perfect armor. He turned back to Georgia and when he spoke, his tone was more serious.
