A Queen Among Snakes
We nod and re-open the trap door and descend down into the dungeon.
There’s a reason this place is called a dungeon and not a prison. We have a prison back at Invictus, but it’s modern and kept sterile. This, however, is exactly what you picture when you hear the word dungeon. As we make our way down the stone stairs, Vitali and I have to cover our noses to keep from vomiting. It’s the most putrid stench I’ve ever encountered. Wet, stone walls covered in dirt, mould, and dry blood. The ground is made of dirt, and I don’t want to even think of how many years it’s been accumulating blood.
