The first thing we do is drop Cas off at the forest so he can run around with the other Howlers. Then Sebastian and I start making our way to the Coven’s mansion, where my family’s apartment is. Our mansion is unique. It’s vast and constantly expanding. It’s also odd with staircases that lead to nowhere, windows that never see light, strange paintings, and doors that open to nothing. Shadows swirl around the walls. The mansion is designed this way to confuse spirits that may make their way to the coven’s realm. It doesn’t happen often, but a few have snuck through before. CHAPTER 9. Ghost walked into the clubhouse, taking the elevator to the 5th floor. When the elevator door opened, he got ushered into a room, with music, drinks, and bitches. The neon light reflected on his black tux and his face. The alluring smell of blunt hit him, teasing his insides. He wasn't an addict, but an avid lover. I argued. As they debated whether they were going to pay the entrance fee, I turned the music back up on my phone. I didn’t feel like hearing them bicker back and forth over fucking twenty dollars. That club is high for a reason, and that’s to pay for the cleaners. The cleaners come once the club is over to clean up the animal corpses that is left behind. All Hallows? I can tell ya it means a lot more than just stuffing fun-size Snickers in your face. Tonight’s the night the world of the dead overlaps with the world of the living. After a moment of silence, she whispered, “They say this place is haunted.” Jackson’s jaw tightened as he struggled with a response. Should he admit to her that he agreed with the rumor? Should he tell her that, like Mike and her father, he’d seen and felt things that shouldn’t have been there? He hadn’t even admitted that to the men. He’d only admitted to the place giving him the creeps. Something inside of him kept him from voicing it. The light illuminated the space, full of old objects and stacked boxes. As she walked, a loose floorboard creaked beneath her feet. She bent down to see what it was and, with some effort, lifted the board. She found an old book, covered in dust, with a leather cover filled with drawings of supernatural creatures. Scarlett’s heart began to race; something about the book drew her in, as if it held secrets waiting to be discovered.
