Cruz tightened his grip on our daughter, holding her so close I thought he might break in half if anyone tried to pull her away. Across the wide floor, Ghost stood still, surrounded by armed men. His voice cut through the silence, coldly.
“You’ve come far, Cruz. Further than I expected.”
“Cut the speeches,” Cruz growled, his jaw hard. “You want me? Here I am.”
