Suddenly, he gripped Tristan’s jaw tightly, causing his lips to tremble with rising anger. Mr. Hawthorne’s action startled Dr. Lawson. “The more I look at you, the more I want to make you suffer,” Mr. Hawthorne hissed in a low, hate-filled voice. “You’re lucky your father agreed to my terms. Otherwise, today would have been your death date.”

Grayson didn’t look away either. There were no harsh words. No biting demands. Just the soft sounds of breath and skin, and heartbeats stammering against each other. He entered her slowly, his forehead pressed against the crook of her neck, inhaling her fragrant scent. Her soft gasp was met with a deep groan he tried to suppress. Not from lust—no, this wasn’t just lust. This was something else. Something terrifyingly human. His movements were slow at first. Every thrust he made was deep. As if he needed to feel her beneath his skin, to confirm that she was here, real, with him.
