It grew a few inches before it stopped, looking like a miniature bag of chips. “Go ahead, pop it open.” I touched the bag and it felt a bit cold. I pulled on the ends, like opening up a bag of popcorn and inside were seven gummies. “Now, these aren’t in the shapes of the animals, but your normal fruit shapes. Just wanted to give you an example.” The man grinned, looking very pleased.

Well, she does. Heidi came in holding a new stuffed, um, well, a new stuffed something. "Look, mommy!" "What is it, honey?" It's a ..." She looked at Nanny Sarah, who mouthed the word to her. "It's a griffin! See it has a bird head and wings and a lion's body and claws." "Cool." Sarah sat down. "It's the mascot for the Grand Rapids minor league hockey team. I thought he and Charlie might get along, them both being mythical creatures and all.

Oh. "I know." I lied. I spotted a small pack of gummy bears in the backseat. “You eat gummy bears?” I questioned. He looked too…violent for that. I wouldn’t say too old, because denying people candy because they’re old makes no sense. But Luca didn’t look like the kind of man who’d eat gummy bears. He chuckled. “They’re for my son, Remi. You can have some if you want?” Well, I was hungry…

He says. "You're very ugly when you move in to kiss me." I say, mocking his tone. "Sure." He says, peppering my face with kisses. I laugh and pull him down for one more kiss. "Let's try the arcade." He says, grabbing my hand. I look around at the games, and gasp when I see a claw machine. "I'm winning us some stuffed animals." I say excitedly. I swipe my card, and aim to get Griff. Why? He's your least favorite out of the three... It's for Sylvester... That's his favorite character, after I forced him to watch it with me.

Damn, I guess his mansplaining helped. A row of cheap stuffed animals hangs from a rope against the wall and I scan them all deciding which to take home with me. There's a bright pink panda bear with eyes a little too closely set to one another. A blue teddy bear holds a heart with love stitched across it in a swirly font, in case anyone wants to out themselves in an inner-office relationship I guess. They're kind of pathetic, exactly what you'd expect from a carnival. My eyes fall on a green frog with longer than normal legs and I decide he's my prize since it fits with the game.

"Oh, yeah! I just remembered. Now I have lots of friends. Their leader is the strongest!" She ran to bed and hugged the teddy bear that Edmund had given her. Chuckling, her parents followed. "He's the strongest?" Alice stroked the bear's head. "Yes!" Sky lifted the stuffed animal high. "This is Grassy. He likes to eat grass. That's why he's green. I think he's a vegetarian bear." Edmund almost burst out laughing. However, out of respect for his daughter's imagination, he nodded in agreement. "Because he is so strong, you don't need to be afraid of having nightmares. Grassy will always protect you."

I agreed. "Let's look around!" Daphnie and I explored the store. There were giant gummy bears, packs of gummy food, flower bouquets, marshmallow treats, and sugar sticks. The store was every kid's dream and every dentist's nightmare. In the center of the store was a Buffett where you make your box of candy. There were pieces of caramel, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, nuts, mints, and other sweets. "Wow. Daphnie, do you wanna make a box of candy?"

I informed him. “Buying more gummy bears?” He chuckled. “No, I’m buying a chainsaw!” I smiled sarcastically. “Of course I’m buying gummy bears! What else would I do in a candy shop?” I huffed. “Buy jelly beans?” He offered. “I’m buying those too!” I remarked. “But you’re still a peanut!” I grumbled. “You are cranky. Getting low on sugar?” He asked. I glared at him. “I’ll stop talking now.” He pretended to zip his lips.
