Rule No 1:No Strings Attached
I stood there over Reyes, chest heaving, staring down at my own hands.
They looked normal and human. No blood on my gloves, no mark to explain what had just happened.
But I hadn't hit him with my fist.
For one impossible second, right before everything had gone wrong, I'd seen it. Claws, black and curved, extending straight out from my own fingers like they belonged there, gone again the instant Reyes hit the floor, vanished like they'd never existed at all.
