He smelled of gun oil, sweat, and the sharp copper of his own blood.
“The fleet,” Dante said, pointing to the small monitor in the lift corner. “The signal is spreading.”
On the screen, the other ships in the Global Ledger’s fleet were losing formation. One gunship tilted sharply, its cannons firing randomly into the clouds. Another began to vent atmosphere, a trail of white vapor screaming into the blackness of the upper atmosphere.
“The clones on the other ships,” Bianca whispered. “They’re shifting too. The whole Ledger is becoming a cage of monsters.”
