Eve's Obsession
I sighed in frustration, seeing its hinge broken.
“What?” Callahan asked curiously.
Still crawling, I turned around, away from his direction, but he was not the type to give up easily. My pursed lips trembled when he followed me, blocking my way to the door.
“You look like an idiot crawling around. Stand up,” Callahan muttered, extending his hand. He continued when I didn’t move, “I saw it already. Stand up.”
I squeezed my eyes shut, picked up the employee handbook on the floor, and reached for his hand, letting him help me stand up. Bob was right. This handbook was helpful and would save me someday. I just didn’t think that ’that someday’ would be today.
