The newcomer was the most powerful gangster in Brownsville, Drake Hughes. He was big and tall, bearing a striking resemblance to a comedy character from an old movie. As a result, he had the nickname Big Silly Hughes when he first started out. However, as he continued to rise up the ranks, no one dared to mention that insulting nickname again.

"Oh-oh..." When Lexie heard it she gave a deep exhale. "Okay, you catch our lies." She pulled Harley close for a hug, telling him that it was okay. That Keegan is a good friend of hers and their secret is safe with him. "Harley's real name is Cody and he is my little brother. Half-brother."

I dropped into my chair and waved off my wolves as they tried to rise. “Good of you to show up,” said my Beta, Harley, with a snort. She was a tomboy, her black hair cropped short and her ears glinting with multiple silver piercings. It still seemed odd to see her with her natural hair colour – back before the Eternal Winter, before our trade with the other packs had dried up, she’d dyed her hair pastel pink. Tattoos inked her whole body, with the words love and hate across each set of knuckles respectively. She flexed the hand with hate on and smirked up at me.

I said, shrugging as I took another large bite of pizza. “That makes sense,” Penny said, nodding. “Harley is very loyal to his friends and Xaden is his best friend.” I was impressed with how much they knew about the three of them already and I felt a bit intimidated. I wanted to know so much more about all three guys, but I knew I couldn’t without stepping on Xaden’s toes. It’s not like I could get close to Harley to learn anything about him. He won’t go anywhere near me because he’s Xaden’s best friend and he’s very loyal to his friends. I admired that about Harley and it got me wondering….

I've never realized how much she sheds until now. "Not everything that looks bad on the outside is." "You're confusing. First Ridge is good and Frankie is bad, but now the clubhouse and Frankie aren't bad either. They're good? Even though I'll get shot?" Harley's standards are too low for what she considers good. She doesn't respond but smiles and walks out the door, promising she'll check in on me again tomorrow.
