As another guard lunged toward me, I raised my hand on instinct. A blast of heat surged outward, hurling him back before he even touched me. The crowd gasped. I didn’t. I stared at my hands, then at Harry—who now looked at me with something that hadn’t been there before. Not just hate. But fear. “You think you’ve won?” Harry bellowed from the podium, now flanked by his personal guards. “You’re both abominations! Curses on this earth!” His voice trembled—not with passion but with the realization that the things he feared most were no longer in chains. Ryu’s growl echoed beside me as he returned, bloodied but undefeated. “No, Harry,” I said, my voice rising above the madness.

He bent to my level and a gulp escaped down his throat as a result of him forcing himself to talk. “Regardless, Harry, you know how dangerous it is, right?” Lucian asked as he stared at me with an apologetic look, which only means one thing. “Brother, you are not thinking of kil—” I couldn't finish my words before I started crying again.

She gripped Harry’s hand tightly, her fingers trembling as she tried to comfort him. Harry didn’t even flinch, his eyes fixed on some invisible point beyond the room, as if he hadn’t heard a word. The tension in the room felt like it could crack the walls. I shifted uncomfortably, feeling like I didn’t belong here. “Mom… please tell me Sasha isn’t getting married,” Harry choked out, his voice trembling. Tears clung to his lashes, and for a moment, he looked like a frightened child seeking comfort. His hands clutched at his mother’s arm, desperate for reassurance.

I couldn’t ignore the feeling that today was going to be eventful, and I needed to be ready. I gently ran my fingers through Harry’s messy hair, my fingers gliding down to push aside the strands that covered his bright, curious eyes. “Mummy, look!” he exclaimed all of a sudden. He took his hands out of his pockets and opened them wide. My heart sank when I caught sight of the blood on his small palms, where his sharp fingernails had pierced his tender skin. It made my stomach twist. “Mummy, I’m scared. What if the new school... what if the kids there become mean to me because of this like they were in the other city?”

But those feelings are torn away to make room for shock, as black streams of smoke slither from her parted lips. They dance in the air between them, like a cobra being coaxed from a pot. Swaying to some song I can’t hear, they slip into Davon’s awaiting mouth where they’re swallowed up with a soft sigh. “You can go now and forget this place ever existed,” he steps back, his gaze holding hers, “It will be like a dream to you and the fear you felt in it will remain. Negativity will never take hold of your thoughts again.”

And standing menacingly over her was Harry, Logan’s dangerous, unpredictable brother. In a flash, a wicked grin stretched across his face before he lunged at her. A scream tore through the air, one that didn't belong to Daisy or me, but was a guttural mix of both. I woke with a start, my breaths coming in ragged gasps as a cold sweat clung to me. My heart pounded wildly against my ribcage as if trying to free itself from the horrors of my mind. A shrill scream still lingered on my lips, dying away as reality settled in.
