The battery on my front door smart lock died, so I called a locksmith to come over. While he was working on the lock, he made small talk. "Dude, this lock comes with six spare keys. Did you lock all of them inside the apartment?" I froze. I've lived in this apartment for three years. My wife and I each have one spare key. The other three were always kept in the hallway drawer. That makes five total. So where's the sixth key?

"Smart fox. Any other interesting developments I should know about?" I tilted my head, giving him a smirk of my own. "Are you stalking a slave girl who apparently made it to Crown tier?" He gave me a pointed look, but I caught the hint of a smile tugging at his lips. "Just making sure my investment is protected." The word 'investment' stung a little, like a sharp small barb wire making a cut. I pushed the feeling aside and told him everything Harrion had said, every detail I could remember. The way his voice had felt pretentious, and how he found any chance for our hands to touch. “The war is over.” The elder’s breath shuddered. “Then why is the world breaking?” Behind him, younger mages whispered amongst themselves, their hands shaking as they tried and failed to cast even the simplest of spells. Myrra stepped forward, clutching the tome. “Magic is… fading,” she admitted. “Something about Erythos’ presence was woven into the world itself. And now that he’s gone....” “We’ve undone something we didn’t understand,” Velora finished grimly.

I straddled him to deepen the kiss when we heard a whistle behind us. “If I had known you guys would give this kind of show, I would’ve brought popcorn.” I broke away to see George and Harry walking towards them. I jumped up to greet them, pulling them both into a hug. “What are you guys doing here?!” “You think we’ll leave you going against a crazy witch without our help. Besides, I have never seen a grimoire up close before,” Harry said with a sparkle in his eye. I looked at George, who rolled his eyes as Harry gushed about the books Mirja let him keep.

Ding, ding, ding, we pull away to see Silvia standing on the stage. “Can the birthday girl please come to the stage.” Silvia says and I feel Octavia stiffen in my hold, she knows what’s coming. We walk up to the stage and our dads come through the side door attached to the stage, holing her cake; a Harry Potter themed three tier cake, the bottom layer is Green (Slytherin), dark chocolate devils’ cake, the middle layer is Blue (Ravenclaw), milk chocolate mud cake and the top layer is the Marauders map, with a silver wolf howling on the top, it’s a white chocolate and raspberry centre sponge cake. There is black frosted roses and other HP symbols positioned around it.
