MAEVE'S POV "We are so screwed," Nyla muttered as we approached the crooked cottage that looked like it might collapse if you breathed on it wrong. The Mad Mage's cottage sat in a clearing surrounded by twisted trees that seemed to lean away from it, like even they knew something was off. Smoke was coming from the chimney in an unnatural way.

I dragged myself up and went to see what was going on reluctantly. “Come with me.” She said in an excited voice and led us to the back of the tree where a huge symbol was engraved. A four-petalled flower. Each of the red petals contained a symbol; a dragon, a werewolf, two witches. The only difference between this symbol and the symbol of code red was the Heart of magic in the center. Her eyes lit up as she said, “Isn’t this symbol self-explanatory.” Zarina, Aslan, and Caleb looked at her dumbfounded. To be honest even I didn’t know what we were supposed to do with this symbol.

Nate led Cloud and Ryde on each hand as we went deeper into the city. The Kingdom of Hazel was unlike Vertez, Sanver, nor Thalia. It looked like something straight out of a Harry Potter world. The city buzzed with busy people wearing something that resembles robes. Stoned floors lined with shops that sell different colors of bottles with strange liquid in them. A bunch of herbs and weeds hanging from the stall. Carriages with wooden wheels drawn by horses passed by. Shouts echoed from left to right as sellers bargained with their customers. As we passed by one of the shops I saw a sign saying: NEWTS EYE. FRESHLY PLUCKED.

I scan the counter for a brush to try to tame my locks as the bathroom door opens in walking Anthony, I pull the towel slightly further up as he looks me up and down. "I wondered where you went off too, I see Amelia's awake" he smiles walking passed me and over to a smiling Amelia as I continue to look for a hairbrush "I'll go out in a bit to buy you some stuff as I know you left it all behind when we moved, but here you can borrow mine" he smiles reaching into the cupboard pulling a black hairbrush out, why didn't I look in the cupboard? That would have been the logical thing to do.

The other woman confirms and then Cam gestures for us to all follow her through to a small back room. Closing my eyes, I find her scent and follow it deep in to the woods at the back of the house. I walk towards Arlo. He's hiding behind a tree, his head out to the side. "Arlo what are you doing out here?" He grabs my hand and pulls me behind the large tree and points ahead "I came to see the magic but boy I did not expect this wizardry" He whispers.

CHAPTER ELEVEN -ESTRADA- Nightshade petals were the main ingredient for the Potion of Charm. Without them, I could not make the potion. The Luna Mother would be furious. I closed my eyes, trying to think as the panic crept through me. Then, I remembered the small patch of nightshade that grew in the heart of the Dark Woods, a place not many people dared to venture in. A wave of fear and excitement washed over me, but I knew what needed to be done, even though the thought of stepping into that otherworldly abyss filled me with dread.
