The next, we were here—in this sacred, otherworldly place—face to face with legends. The Moon Goddess Selene stood before us, radiating an aura of calm authority. Her silver hair flowed like a river down her back, and her luminous eyes seemed to see straight into my soul. The Graeae Sisters flanked her, their forms shimmering like water caught in moonlight. When what I considered was my last struggle or plea to the goddess I saw all the torches in the dome blow out and as if something beckoned me to look up and the image that had stupefied me before made from the glowing lights seemed to come to life. In the center of the dark arena was an outlined art of the goddess with her flowing hair and godly white dress flaring around her. It was the image of the Moon Goddess with a dagger in her hand. The image before hadn’t been clear enough but now with the lights out, I could make out that she wasn’t just holding the dagger she was actually plunging it in through the center of a disfigured creature’s forehead.

There was something in me that it seemed like Her hair was flowing. There was another statue of her that was settling beside it. This time, they depicted the Moon Goddess standing up with Her eternity glory, having a crystal ball in Her hand while Her other hand was holding a staff with a crescent moon shape. She even had a crescent moon shape behind Her head that served as a halo. I was really drawn to the statue. I felt pulled just by eyeing them. "Is it just me, or do they look like they are talking to me?" I couldn't help saying those words since I had these shivers in my spine.

The Moon goddesses temple was a beautiful sight to behold. The temple stood majestically, its weathered stone façade glowing silver in the moonlight. Delicate carvings of crescent moons, stars, and lunar cycles adorned the walls, while intricate marble mosaics depicted the Moon Goddess's gentle power. A grand entrance, flanked by slender columns, led to a serene inner sanctum. Soft, ethereal light filtered through the temple's latticework ceiling, illuminating the central altar, where a glorious statue of the Moon Goddess shone.

In the painting, the Goddess is smiling, and I guess it’s meant to be beatific, but the artist didn’t quite capture the emotion of the moment or her beauty. In our writings, the Moon Goddess is described as having white hair like the clouds and silver eyes like the moon, but in the painting her hair is the colour of old straw and her eyes are flat, completely white and she has no pupils – it reminds me of a corpse.
