Once he was done, he casually closed the door behind him and resumed a somber expression on his face. “Where’s that Soul Devouring Potion you spoke of?” “Here…” Xyla naturally held Ron’s arm and led him over to a seat in front of the living room’s coffee table. As soon as they sat down, Xyla eagerly handed over the bottle she had checked out earlier to Ron.

"You said so much nonsense and didn't even get to the point. Listen, ask your boss to take this call now. Otherwise, his wife will be dead very soon." Kane was often by Xander's side. Alex passed me my cocktail and I thanked him with a quick kiss. Someone’s phone rang out, cutting through the silence, we shared a look before Harry checked his phone; ‘It’s Ron’. Oh now... Why was Ron calling? ‘Does he know we’re out together?’ I whispered to Alex, but he shook his head. So, why was he ringing then? We all just stayed quiet and listened to Harry’s one-sided conversation;

“Now you know why you can’t hold it against him. He is handling it better than either of us would.” We finished the remainder of the ride in silence, the only noise to be heard is Xander’s frustrated sobs. It takes everything in me to not reach back to try to console him, but I didn’t want to risk making things worse. I didn’t know how far Ronan’s patience or understanding would go. We pulled up out front of the Wolf’s Point Lodge and Xander hopped out the back seat before Ronan could park the car. We both sigh as Ronan removes the keys from the ignition and plants a gentle kiss on my lips before we climb out in pursuit of Xander.

“What is this?” “Do you watch the series called harry potter?” He asked, and when still don’t get it, he explained, “You know, some fantasy that humans made about us supernaturals.” He then pointed at his little gift, “That character is named Remus Lupin, the werewolf there.” I nodded my head, looking at the little human that transforms into a wolf keychain type. “And? What should I do with this?” I asked again. “I hope you’ll keep it.” He trailed off, his tone narrowing but then he cleared his throat, “Are you happy today? Did I somehow convince you that I’m serious?”

Ronald thought he was doing a pretty good job at being Charles’ assistant, given he even knew the exact thoughts running through Charles’ mind. “Well…” Mr. Quinn hesitated, “That pen is…” Mr. Quinn thought about it for a minute before he looked at Ronald and asked, “What is Ms. Shaw’s relationship to Mr. Harrison?” That pen was very expensive! An odd look appeared in Ronald’s eyes as he chuckled and said, “Don’t ask questions you aren’t supposed to know the answers to. Since when did you earn the right to probe into Mr. Harrison’s private matters? Hurry, pack everything up!”

She had insisted on helping me do it but I had bluntly refused. She was almost at the verge of tears as she watched me throughout the entire process, lending a hand at any chance she got. It wouldn't be special if I let her do everything. “Xander?” I called from outside the closed door to his bedroom, holding the offering. I opened the door when I didn't get any response and I saw him seated at the edge of his bed, reading a novel. “Harry Potter!” I exclaimed, hastening my steps towards him. “That's my absolute favorite. I didn't know you read.”

The thought of lying in the same bed with Wolvin—it was something I could never do. Finally, the doorknob turned, and all our eyes shifted toward the sound. The door creaked open, revealing Ron standing there, holding a potion in his hand and wearing a broad smile. Relief washed over me, and even though I knew Emre’s eyes were still on me, I didn’t bother hiding my satisfaction at Ron’s arrival. I wanted to rush over and hug him, but Kit was faster. She darted past me, and I expected her to embrace him.

He looked like a doll in Ronan’s grip—small, pathetic, and utterly outclassed. Ronan shook him once, twice, like a dog with a rat, before letting him go. Xavier collapsed to his knees, heaving and coughing, clutching his throat as he tried to drag air back into his lungs. "Why..." Xavier wheezed, his eyes wateing. He looked up with eyes full of terror and confusion. "Why does it... matter to you, Ronan? Why are you getting in between me... and my wife?" Ronan stepped forward, his boot coming down inches from Xavier’s hand. He leaned down, his eyes narrowed.

“Ronan, when you’re done, we have drinking to do.” “Yes,” Sophie agreed. “Go. Because Shiloh and I need to check on Jo, and I refuse to drag your unconscious body around the castle.” Ronan stood, almost swaying. Xavier caught his arm. “You fainted,” Xavier said. “Shut up,” Ronan muttered. “No,” Xavier said. “I will bring it up often.” They left, muttering, somehow shoulder-to-shoulder in a way that told me this kingdom was shifting into something new.
