Chapter 29 They drove in silence for the rest of the journey, through streets that grew progressively more expensive, past buildings that grew progressively taller, until finally they pulled up in front of a gleaming glass tower that bore the Hawkins Industries name in letters three feet tall. The car parked in the underground garage, and Ravyn was escorted—still without physical contact, but clearly without freedom to deviate—through security checkpoints and private elevators to the executive floor. Where, apparently, her family had decided she would spend her first day.

"York, besides Hickey and my old man, do you know anyone else who might have Kenton's contact information?" Dalton asked, interrupting York as he was lost in thought. I was going to fight and show them how much I was going to make them suffer. I watched as James sighed the document and pushed it across the table. " It is done." Hawkins said into the coms. He turned to Steve. “Son, can I ask you something?” Steve looked up. “Of course dad, what is it?” Mr. Hawkins placed his cup on the table, folded his hands together, and looked straight at Steve. “Where were you for all that time?” Steve looked down for a moment, as if searching for the right words. He picked up his own cup but didn’t drink from it. “There was something that happened at Gabste,” he said quietly. “Nothing too serious, just work stuff. Things got a bit messy and I didn’t want to worry anyone.”
