My body shuddered underneath hers as I spread out my arms to take her hug. She pulled away, then placed her hand on my forehead. “Took away your memory of being a hybrid,” she whispered, then walked over to the boys, who were still seated in one spot. They came back to life with Hazel’s touch. “I do not think I am enjoying this holiday,” Kai said, and we all sighed simultaneously. Once more, I felt terrible for dragging them into a mess like this. The times they had planned the holidays, it turned out much better, but with me, all they got was chaos.

That was the magic of the season. Davy leaned back slightly. “This is my favorite time of the year, and these kids are killing their roles.” Melody nodded. “Mine too. Everything feels christmassy.” “A season of love,” he said. “Exactly.” Tara shifted beside them. “The both of you need to be quiet, I can barely hear the actors.” The program ended with applause. The lights dimmed and everyone sang ‘Hark the herald angels sing’. The Christmas tree was officially turned on and everyone cheered. The fireworks and everything exceeded her expectations.

“Thank you.” Zayne took me to another beautiful sight. Walking with him side by side felt dreamy. He got me new clothes, mostly jackets, boots, and I picked up this short black gown. I have a thing for black. It is safe to say I was having the best time of my life. Who would have thought my Christmas would be spent far away from family? The ride home was not awkward this time. He played music, good Christmas songs that I jammed to, and we were finally back home.

One soft click. The picture came out tasteful but teasing, enough to make him grin. She smiled, selected Darren’s name, hit send. Then tossed her phone onto the bed and poured herself a glass of cheap red wine. Next week, she'd have her bags packed, ready to head to Maysville, the small town she'd grown up in for Christmas. Her holiday plan was just perfect! Her playlist hummed to life; jazzy, lazy Christmas tunes filling the air. For the first time all day, her shoulders relaxed. She even started humming along, thinking about what tomorrow morning would look like. Morning pancakes, bad movies, Darren’s laugh…

Wynne's POV When I woke up in the hospital, Christmas was already over. A whole day gone. Bernard sat beside my bed, eyes swollen like he hadn't slept. My throat felt raw. "Bernard... I'm sorry. I made you run all over the place for me. I even wrecked your Christmas." He brushed a hand through my hair. His eyes reddened again. "Silly girl. I found you." He shook his head. "That makes this the best Christmas I've ever had."

Cassian blocked him instantly. “Not. A step. Closer.” And that was the moment I realized.. This Christmas wasn’t going to be peaceful. Wasn’t going to be healing. Wasn’t going to be simple. It was going to be war.

It was a Christmas of firsts for both Felix and Cassie. For Felix, this was the first time that his house had ever been decorated for Christmas. In the past, he had put up a plastic miniature tree if he remembered and while Hazel had still been alive, she had put up a menorah for the December festivities. Now, the decorations started right from the gates to the mansion, with the pathway leading to the house lined with colorful reindeer figurines, giant candy canes and plastic snowmen. The house was decked in strings of flashing Christmas lights that Felix was certain would be visible from space.

I said while still slowly walking towards his way, “He belongs to me not to you.” Duke laughed. “You think that I'm kind of stupid, huh?!” He asked sarcastically. “Christmas doesn't belong to anyone but to me!” Bang! I quickly hid on the wall when he take a shot in my position. He still hiding behind the counter and I was closely near from him right now. I need to lure him. His men goes out in the door together with Christmas. I don't know where it goes but I'm sure it is either outside of this main deck or out of this tower.

“That's fair.” He nodded. "It is.” There was a big difference between Caleb and Damon. Caleb was always demanding, and because he was my first love, I always have it. The one I refused, he ended up as my step sister's husband. But Damon, he is the type that is always offering, and initiating. And that makes me feel safe. “So…,” he began. " I have a dinner party tonight, and I'll want you to come.” I shook my head. "I can't. My aunt will be worried.”

The drive back from the marina was conducted in a heavy, strained silence. Cami sat in the back of the SUV with Ariana, her hand tightly gripping Ariana’s as if she were afraid her friend might vanish if she let go. Mateo drove, his eyes fixed on the road, his reflection in the rearview mirror a constant, watchful presence. When they finally entered the foyer of the mansion, the festive Christmas decorations—the towering tree, the garlands, the flickering candles—seemed mocking. The "perfect family Christmas" Cami had envisioned was a fractured mess.
