I’m suddenly finding myself in the packhouse right outside of Wesely’s room. He sneers angrily at me. “You are weak, and have no place in this pack much less as my Luna. I, Wesley Steel, future Alpha of the Jade Pack, reject you, Avril West as my mate and Luna.” He shoves me to the ground, stunned. How could this be happening? Wasn’t my mate supposed to love and cherish me? I then see a pair of brown eyes looking at me lovingly. I feel warm. How do I know this color? I can see? I hear a voice. I can help you see. She says. I am Emerald, your wolf. You are special. I gasp in surprise.

This one was ten times more intricate, making it a little harder for me to escape. Rolling his sleeves up, his forearms revealed ink that I had never seen before. While almost every inch of his arms had been covered with markings -on one arm, my eyes focused on a single rose with a serpent wrapped around it. Switching my gaze to his other arm, there was a dagger that pierced through the exact flower. Right below it, were the words: Like madness is the glory of this life. The quick movements of his hands had me mesmerized as he so gracefully looped the material up my arms.

Valentina read this and called Marcus directly. "Tell me about the people," she said. "The fourth-generation master distiller is a woman named Eilidh (pronounced AY-lee — a Scottish Gaelic name, one of the most traditional Highland women's names, derived from the Old Irish name Eilís, itself from the Greek Helios meaning 'sun' or 'bright light') MacPherson. Fifty-three. She learned the distillery from her father, who learned it from his. She has no interest in selling. She has every interest in surviving."
