XAVIER'S POV My whole body went cold as I heard what the soldier had said. My instincts had been right. I should have never trusted Nico. I was a fool to have thought I would get loyalty from a mercenary whose only loyalty lay in how much money he was paid. A blast of a cannon shook the whole place making the ground shake like the tremors of an earthquake. The blast was followed by the guttural screams of the men who had been wounded —making the place sound so eerie.
