In his hands was a very old looking book. Twisting the upper half of my body as I rolled over, I was able to catch a glimpse of the book. “FACT OR FICTION? Werewolf Legends of Old” was printed on the cover. “Learning anything interesting?” I rasp, my voice rough with sleep. He lays the book down and smiles at me as he brushes a few wild strands of my hair down with his fingertips, and I feel a shiver run from my head to my toes. “There are so many legends here that I’ve never heard before. I’m making notes of the ones that I think are worth exploring in more detail, or anything that might somehow be connected to you or the wolf packs that are searching for you.”

Li produced a sound that sounded very much like a raven, and was answered seconds later by a similar sound deep in the woods. Before long, they were surrounded by several wolves, about sixteen of them, all with varying colours of pelt, from silvery-white to black to a woody brown. The largest of them stepped forward, a great big werewolf with black fur flecked with strands of silver. He morphed into a tall, middle-aged man with curly black hair, only just showing a bit of gray. His friendly eyes twinkled as he saw Lauren. "Lauren dear. It's been a while."

Did she have ancestors from there several generations back that she just didn't know about? And most of all, what did any of it have to do with the very strange book she'd found, Legends of the Werewolf. The binding was ancient leather, now frayed in many places, and the lettering in gold. The other night when she finally opened it she expected to read about the history of werewolves and how that history came to be. Instead, to her shock, the stories were about shapeshifters, people who could change into the shape of a wolf. Whole villages apparently had that ability and when danger presented itself they shifted into their wolf shape, gathered as a pack and disappeared.

It's hard for me to read this kind of book as I always tend to think about it like it happened in real life…Even though I don't want to think about it, my heart just can't… Ha… After I finished reading that book, I moved on to reading another book but this time it's about the history of this place. The book is quite old and it's strange because the material isn't paper but a cloth. I scanned it first before I read it thoroughly. I got engrossed in reading because everything in this book is interesting. I’d pulled three entire stacks of books around me, a fortress of leather bindings and worn pages: histories of werewolves, dense texts on Lycans, thin, brittle pamphlets about old bloodlines, even obscure case studies of wolfless wolves and the rare, desperate stories of those who’d somehow triggered their first shift late in life.
