When I Get To Where I'm Going Novels & Stories

For a moment, I just stand there in the hallway, staring at nothing. ‎Am I really doing the right thing? ‎The doubt creeps in, cold and persistent. ‎I shake my head quickly, pushing it away. There’s no turning back now. ‎Dragging my bags outside, I load them into the car and get in. My hands grip the steering wheel tightly as I start the engine. ‎Then I drive. ‎Fast. ‎I already know where I’m going....somewhere no one would ever think to look. ‎Somewhere forgotten. ‎By the time I arrive, the sun is already beginning to dip, casting long shadows across the quiet surroundings. I step out of the car slowly, my eyes scanning the place.

I tried taking a step forward. It felt like I was moving, but I didn’t seem to be getting anywhere. Hard to tell when there’s nothing around you. Blindly and stubbornly I pressed on. This is the part in the movie you think, Where the fuck does he think he’s going? At least, that’s what I was thinking. “Where are you going? Don’t leave when we’ve only just been reunited.”

He's dead now, no point in wallowing in the past. Cheers to my future. With no distractions this time. I carry on driving with no stop, I don't know where I'm going but I know where I've been, and that's no place to be. I'm getting out.

I told myself again and struggled to get back up. My throat was dry and I could hardly swallow my saliva but that was just a tip of an iceberg when it comes to the problem that I was facing right now because I was sure that the thing after me was after me because it was sent to destroy me. I could feel it footsteps coming my way as I was struggling to get up and I knew the only way of I surviving this was if I reached my destination on time. I don't know where exactly I was going but I knew the right direction the moment I see it.

I still have to finalize things with my boss as she is sad to see me go, but she is also happy for me at the same time. The week went by faster than I thought it was going to. I am loading my last boxes into my car. I am going to take a short nap before I start the long drive that I have ahead of me. I still find it hard to believe that I've made it this far in my life. I have been told that I can't do something by so many people that were supposed to tell me that I can. Now I get to prove all of those people wrong as I have shown them that I can and I will. I just need to keep this mindset that I have to keep me going forward with my next steps in life.

I step inside. I’m not ready. But I move anyway. Toward Mia.

I drove through. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking. I didn’t know where I was going. Just away. Ensure she has no choice. The words clung to me. I pressed the gas. The buildings blurred. Faster. And faster. Still not fast enough.

Regina "I can't let darkness stop me from moving forward," I thought to myself. "I have to push through and face whatever challenges lie ahead." With renewed determination, I took a step forward, ready to confront the unknown and trust in my instincts. I knew that I could find a way to overcome any obstacles and reach our destination. I took a deep breath and prepared to face whatever lay ahead.

“Whatever these barriers are, we’ll get through them.” His words bring a flicker of comfort, but it’s fleeting. I nod, forcing myself to focus on the path ahead. “Let’s keep moving,” I command, walking faster with anticipation. The sooner we get there, the sooner this will all be over with, and we can go home.

Home is where I need to be, where I can find solace and regain my composure. With each passing second, my determination grows stronger. I can't let her words define me, can't let them break me down. I know who I am, and I won't let anyone else's opinion tarnish that. I grab my bag tightly, feeling the weight of my dreams and aspirations within it, reminding myself of the path I've chosen. The journey back home feels like a race against time, my feet moving faster than ever before. The familiar streets blur as I sprint towards the sanctuary that awaits me. The world around me becomes a mere backdrop, insignificant compared to the turmoil within.
