When I turn eighteen and leave the orphanage, I can give them all to him at once. I hide the notebook in a crack between the cabinets and use a plastic ruler to retrieve it. I just got it out, but before I can hide it, Leya comes into the room. She's a normal girl and her butt isn't fat anymore; she's lost weight since we were ten. Leya doesn't know about the diary though, so I shove it under the mattress by the headboard and cover it with a pillow. Lucky, my talisman, sits next to my pillow. I know I can trust him.

"Are you giving up already?" The words stung sharp, halting my rant. I sank onto the cot opposite her, shoulders slumping heavy. "I’m not giving up. I’m just... lost. I need to know the beginning. What sparked the war? Why did I kill her? Without that, how do I fight against fate?" She leaned forward, eyes searching mine. "The origins lie buried deep in the Legend of Ophelia. I whisper. Her eyes open so wide. “Are you serious?” “Please don’t.” I say. She frowns. “Don’t what?” “Act like them. Like Aeron.” “How is he acting?” She asks confused. “Like all he wants is for me to spread my legs and start pushing out his offspring.” I state.
