I picked up the book and opened the first page, which had been aged. I couldn't tell how long this must have been here. The first page I opened was blank. This prompted me to open the second page; it was practically empty, just like the first. I continued opening until the fifth page because I was counting the number of pages as I flipped

Emma's hands were shaking with pure fear, and a few cold drops of sweat ran down her forehead. She put the heavy book down, completely unable to read any further. Millions of terrifying questions were racing through her mind. Why were these types of things written in this book? Was it real? Did that boy die? Worst of all... was it the Master who had done all of this? It did not look like a normal book. The letters were not printed by a machine; they were meticulously handwritten. Someone had actually sat down and written this. But who could that person be? How could anyone have written out such horrible, violent things?

I stared at the title. Grim Boundaries, Containment Rituals and Demonic Anchors. Alright. That was on the nose. I tugged it free. It thudded onto the table like it weighed more than it should. The pages were vellum-thin, covered in curling script and ink illustrations that danced uncomfortably close to realism. Demons, mostly. Circles. Knots. Symbols. Some looked familiar from childhood fairy tales, horror movies, that phase in college when I thought being into witchcraft was a personality.

“Has he been studying all these books?” I looked at the desk. One book was lying open on his desk. The page it was turned to had a drawing of a person who looked like they were screaming. I continued staring at the opened page. The title at the top of the page said "Vampire Possession and Mind Control." I looked away from the book for a moment, My blood went cold. Had Noah known this might happen? Had he been preparing for it? I tried to look into the book one more time but

His presence was tense, as if he was waiting for something to move in the shadows. “Black magic,” he murmured, reaching for a book with gold-edged pages. The cover had a strange sigil, one that pulsed faintly under the dim lighting. I frowned. “This place… it doesn’t feel right.” It wasn’t just the books. There were jars placed on a nearby table—each containing murky liquids and unidentifiable objects floating within. Some looked like dried-up hearts, others like small, shriveled hands. I swallowed hard. Hades exhaled sharply. “It’s worse than I expected.”

The laughter was haunting, and I couldn't help but look around, my heart pounding in my chest, wondering who or what could be lurking in the shadows. Lizzie and Axel immediately dropped to their knees, their obedience striking terror into my heart. “Master,” they kneeled and cast their eyes down.
