The sign resting here was carefully drawn in black gothic type letters, each dripping red: “Horror.” Hanging by a piece of tape off every other shelf were letter-sized flyers exactly like the ones that man was putting on windshields out at the Farm and Fleet. I peeled one off to get a closer look.

I don't know what compelled me to open my eyes. Probably the breathing on my face smelling faintly of jam, but regardless, I now understand why horror movies with children in them are, without a doubt, the most terrifying films of all. There is nothing quite like a silent child staring at you while you're sleeping or even worse, to wake up to. Some questions come to mind pretty fuckin' quick. Like how long have you been standing there watching over me like one of the ill-fated Grady sisters in The Shining?

Cassandra's POV "I'm sure the tickets will sell out fast. We're all eager to see the movie," I chuckled, acknowledging the excitement in the air. Despite my amusement, I couldn't help but feel frustrated with my friend's insensitivity. He refused to admit that the horror movie we were about to watch terrified him to the core. He had only watched it once, and since then, he had been plagued by the feeling of ghosts lurking in every corner. I turn my face back to the TV, raising the duvet to my nose. I wasn’t scared of entering haunted mansions but horror movies were a big no-no for me. You know what I hate about horror movies is the characters, they always act dumb. Like who goes into a dark shed in the middle of f***ing nowhere at night asking if anyone is there? Like why would you do that? Of course, someone is going to be there and jump at you duh, that’s basic knowledge but I guess characters didn’t get the memo. I would never do something like that, ever. You can never even find me in the middle of nowhere at night.
