Mated To Valentine
"Oh, we will. In fact, we’re feeling generous today. You must be hungry."
My stomach twists at the word.
"You’ll be allowed to hunt," the voice purrs. "Try not to disappoint us."
A sharp buzz fills the air, followed by the click of the door unlocking.
I hesitate. It’s too easy. Too planned. But my hunger is louder than my logic. My body is screaming for sustenance, every cell aching for blood.
I push forward.
The moment I step outside, the sun hits me like a sledgehammer. I stumble, my limbs sluggish, my vision swimming with bright spots.
