Why didn’t I want Daryl to hurt him? “Come Aria, let me take you home?” Ryan holds a hand out towards me. “You don’t belong here Aria. You are not one of them!” “A wolf? Of course she is!” Elijah growls from behind me, stepping out around me. “But she isn’t is she, or maybe you do not know Elijah. You see this girl standing in front of you. She is neither a wolf nor a vampire. In fact she is a combination of the two, a pure Hybrid, just like myself!”

Aria POV “How dare you challenge the throne Adrian !” One of the other men seated beside the throne stood up and demanded. “It is not a challenge your highness, it is destiny. Aria. The Hybrid Werewolf, coming to save the kingdom from the evils that you have placed in it.” I stared at the man once more and then back to the king, seated on the throne. “Adrian , you have done the abominable and you should be punished for that…” One of the men once again said, but was held back by the king, who gazed in my direction with keen interest.

A maid, if I had to guess. “And he just… sent you?” I asked. “To me?” She nodded, beginning to lay out the bandages. “Yes, miss. I’m Aria. I’ll help with the cuts if you’ll allow.” I moved closer, wary. “Why?” Aria paused, hands stilling. “I don’t know his mind, miss. I’m only a maid. But I heard him tell the steward he wanted the hybrid moved closer, so he could keep an eye on her himself.”

Aria pulled the book closer and softly responded to him, "Okay, I will join from tomorrow." She hoped her father would not bother her after that. He didn't and that was a relief. She could go back to read about Hybrids. However, as Aria removed her fingers and began to find where she left, she heard a knock on the door. She thought it was her father again, "You? Fuck off right now!" But finding the annoying Noah Rhodes on her doorstep compelled her to jump out of the bed so she could push him out and slam the door on his face.

I hung up and looked at Aria. Silver light was running across her fingers. She stood perfectly still in the middle of the villa steps with Niara fully present behind her eyes, and for the first time I understood something Raze had been trying to tell me for weeks. She wasn't becoming someone who needed protection. She was becoming someone dangerous. And God help anyone who forgot it. Raze went completely silent inside my chest. "He's human," Aria said quietly. "No wolf genetics. But he's been exposed to hybrid research long enough to carry residue." Her brow furrowed slightly like she was listening to something only she could hear. "He doesn't even understand what he's part of."

Please tell me they don't have proof. Sensing her nervousness, Rakel shot her a look. “What?” She shook her head and listened to the Alpha Elder's words. “You are right, King Jorah, but we do have evidence.” he turned to the vampire elder to continue. “Elder Leondris is right. A hybrid was recently spotted in a pack in Australia with her kids. Unfortunately, she escaped before the Alpha in that area could apprehend her. Do you realize how significant of this matter is? If a hybrid could procreate and have children, that suggests they were never extinct in the first place. They've been hiding.”

"Of course I would. She means the world to me." "I know," the woman said with a wink. "Even a blind person could see how much you adore the girl. Now, she is a hybrid, and while that fact doesn't make her any different to me, it is a problem with some others," she said, nodding her head a little to the right where I could see Luna Seline dancing with her mate.

Her HUD threw a warning—*COUPLED NODE DETECTED*—then glitched it out as Aria smacked a software pillow over the notification. “Don’t look,” Aria hissed. “You know what he looks like. You’ve seen him in the rain. You’ve seen him in your nightmares. You do not need an updated visual in high‑definition right now.” Lys didn’t move.

I thought as I rubbed my chin. “Uh, will it hurt?” Peering at me, his lip curled slightly as he shook his head. “Not the initial bite but your body will reform itself. Thomas would keep your pain to a minimum and I would be at your side for your first shift,” he said compassionately. “We would become a powerful couple, since female hybrids are rare,” he added with a wink. Emptying my wine flute, I wiggled it before him and asked for a refill. “I'm going to have to be hammered if I do this,” I muttered, causing him to pause mid-pour.
