Feral Attraction
I tried, but my body was trembling uncontrollably, every nerve alive with a strange, humming energy.
The magician began to draw. His fingers moved in deliberate arcs on my forehead first, then down the center of my chest, and finally across each wrist. The light clung to my skin, hot and humming, the scent of metal sharp in the air.
He began to chant.
The sound wasn’t like any language I’d ever heard before. It was rough and deep, every syllable vibrating through the ground, through my bones, through the very air itself. The words seemed to move, as though alive.
