I demanded, pushing against his chest.
"Zee, the diary… the person you confessed to, it was me, wasn't it? You've always loved me." His voice was hoarse, desperate.
"Yes, I loved you!" I spat, the words laced with a raw, painful honesty. "I loved you humbly, self-deprecatingly. But I'm awake now. I don't want to love you anymore! I won't love you! Please, just let me go!"
My eyes burned, but no tears would fall. My face was pale, my heart a wasteland.
