I Hope You Get This Message Novels & Stories

~Cryptic Message~ As Andrès drove home, trying to focus on the road while his mind raced with plans for revenge, his phone buzzed. Glancing down, he saw an anonymous text message lighting up the screen. The words made his blood run cold: "I hope you listen now."

I glance at the phone and quickly reach for it when I see a message pop up. It might be from Jesse or Ana. My hope disappears when an unknown number appears instead. I tap on the message, and my throat knots as I read the words displayed on my screen. “Would you love to join Giovanni?"

When he picks up the phone, he'd see my message, I thought. "Sweetheart, I haven't been gone for long. I hope you pick up your phone to see I waited patiently for you to return. Where have you been? Give me a call. Love ya!" "And.... Sent!" few seconds later I heard a beep; 'Message failed to deliver'

I submit my application, and then I wait. Days pass, then weeks. Life continues in that dull, painful routine… until one morning, exactly a month later, I get the email. I almost don’t open it. My hands are shaking too much. But when I finally do… “Congratulations…” That’s all it takes. A breath I didn’t realize I was holding leaves me. I got it. I actually got it. For the first time in weeks… something inside me shifts…. something close to happiness. I feel hope….a small, fragile kind.

I'm feeding Hope at 2 AM when I find it. The email. Buried in my spam folder. Sent three weeks ago—right when Damien made that first press conference denouncing me. Subject line: READ THIS BEFORE YOU GIVE UP ON ME From: A dummy email account I don't recognize. But the message inside— Aria, If you're reading this, it means something went wrong. It means I couldn't keep up the act. Couldn't convince you it was fake. Couldn't—

“Just tell me what is going on.” “Take a look at this message,” he pulled out his phone and opened the message for her to see it. As soon as she saw it, she was dumbstruck and her face turned pale. The message goes as thus “It will happen one day when you didn’t expect. A bullet will be shot into someone’s skull and you won’t know who.” Naya read the message over and over again trying to be sure she read right. Her hands were literally trembling in fright. “Who…who sent this?” She managed to ask. “Must…must it be…. must it be…”

Back then, I liked it. But that guy? He was long gone. And me? I wasn't the girl who built her world around him anymore. My phone buzzed on the pillow. It was from Kallie. [Michael, this is the happiest birthday I've had in years. Thank you. I'm really happy. Oh, and I prepared a surprise for you on my social media. Go take a look.] Before I could even blink, the message disappeared. Kallie: [Oops, sorry Elsa. Sent that to the wrong person. Please don't be mad, okay?]

I brought it out only to see a message, "We are sorry to inform you that you aren't qualified to be on our team. We appreciate your time and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.” From Steven Global tech. “ Uhm” I sigh.

Late that night, Juniper stood alone in her office again. The lights were dim. The glass reflecting the city behind her. Her phone vibrated softly. One message. Unknown sender. She opened it. A single line appeared. Your board is impressive. Juniper’s expression didn’t change. She read it again. Then another message appeared. But it’s incomplete. Silence filled the room. Juniper typed a reply. Just three words. Identify yourself. The response came almost instantly. Not yet. Juniper’s eyes narrowed slightly. Another message appeared.

Instantly, my heart skipped a beat as a worried expression enveloped me. The message read, “I SEE YOU MUST BE ENJOYING WHAT I SET FOR YOU, LAURA KARMA. IF IT HADN'T BEEN FOR ME, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN THIS CLOSE TO ERIC. I SEE HE HAS BEEN TAKING GOOD CARE OF YOU LIKE HIS WIFE.”
