The second Izora made eye contact; they all dipped low in a coordinated bow, skirts flying like the wings of terrified birds. "Good morning, my lady," they chorused in the large bedroom in a clear, beautiful tone. Izora gasped and sat up so quickly she almost twisted herself in the covers. Lady? Since when am I a lady? She had been the one scrubbing floors, polishing shoes, and cleaning homes other than her own throughout her life. She had grown up invisible; nobody ever bent to her. Nobody ever stared at her with anything except pity or contempt. And now... this?

Nathan, still sitting on the bench beside the lady, felt a deep sense of empathy as she shared her struggles. He asked gently, "Why weren't you looking on the road when you were walking? It could have been dangerous." The lady sighed, her eyes reflecting a mix of weariness and worry. "I'm a single mom, you see. My daughter is seriously sick, and the doctor says she needs surgery. They won't proceed until I can gather a substantial sum of money for the operation. I've been lost in thoughts, trying to figure out how to make ends meet."

I was so surprised so I cursed because I did not know that there was someone here aside from me. "Sorry about that, I was too surprised. It is just slip of a tongue." I said shyly to the lady. " Don't worry about it, that is normal haha." She answered while laughing. The lady seems like she is in her early 40s but she still looks so beautiful in her gardening clothes. " Sorry again, Anyway ma'am I am Kiera nice to meet you," I said then bowed a little as a sign of respect. "I am Rosalinda, nice to meet you." She said with a smile.

What did she just say to me? "Are you seriously telling me that this little girl sitting on this bed can't walk or talk?" I freaked out. "That's just the truth Madison. She was not like this one she was born. I mean Zara used to be a normal kid, and she used to live a happy life until what happened" Lady Delia started.

Others moved more slowly, enjoying the calm weather after the rain. A young mother pushed a stroller carefully across the street while her little boy skipped beside her, holding onto the edge of her coat. A businessman stood near the corner, speaking seriously into his phone while adjusting the strap of his briefcase. Two teenage girls walked past laughing loudly at something on one of their phones, completely lost in their own little world. It was an ordinary day. An ordinary city. Ordinary people living ordinary lives. But standing there, watching it all through the glass, something settled warmly inside my chest. Because for me, this life no longer felt ordinary. It felt extraordinary.

It felt like medicine. I let myself be ordinary for a minute. I let the sun and the noise and the sticky orange juice be enough. For once, that was okay. For once, it was more than okay. It was necessary.

I squeezed my eyes shut to organize my thoughts and probably other possible options like leaving the country for a few days.
