We nodded to each other, flanking the barn, and I held still, trying to see through the slats. I couldn’t see well enough to count the men, but there was plenty to put up a fight.
A scream pierced their air, and my lungs emptied.
I was going to drag him to the pits of hell myself for what he’s done. To his own daughter, no less.
I turned to look at Luca, he was my cousin, my flesh and blood, I wouldn’t force him to follow me into the trap. His resolve was the same as mine, either we died or they did.
