Ashina started. I started dicing some onions on the chopping board and I was listening to her. I shouldn’t be afraid of my powers? I’m trying but all that is in my head is just against it. “I had once been in your position. I was confused about it too. I didn’t know where to start from, I didn’t know anything about blue bloods and worst of it all, I had no one to teach me or put me through.” I continued listening to her while I cooked. “The only way you can activate your true self is exploring your inner self, knowing your strengths and your weaknesses.”

But I will. Because I have to. Because this.. This new life, this hunger, this power waiting somewhere inside me.. It is mine to survive. Mine to master. And somewhere deep inside my chest, beneath the fear and the guilt and the hunger that refuses to fade completely, something unfamiliar stirs. Not hunger. Not pain. Something else. Waiting. Watching. Like an ability not yet born.

This new feeling was like nothing else; It was like being stuck between two worlds: the one where I stayed content with the familiar and the one that isn’t. Taking a deep breath, I hear the steady rhythm of my own heart. Gradually, I have come to recognize many things that were previously hidden from me. Aiden and Adam were two sources of inspiration who gave me the courage to keep exploring until I fully understood my own reality. In these moments of clarity and revelation, strength has emerged from within that allows me to keep pushing forward in spite of any adversities or difficulties.

I couldn't imagine someone like her breaking down and giving up on her life. "Nala, you're not focused!" Calvel growled as I tried to punch the sandbag in front of me. "I'm trying!" I swore. "It's just… I don't have the muscles to do that…" Calvel sighed and crossed his arms. "You don't need them. All you need is to know how to throw a punch and then do it using your inner force." I dropped my hands in frustration. "If there's a switch to that power somewhere inside me, then I surely don't know where it is."

Just how did he know what the voice deep inside her tried to scream out? She was surprised that in reality, perhaps Christian could understand her body even more than herself. Perhaps she had rightly said that he had dominated her whole self, owned it in such a promising, true way that now he even started understanding the screaming demands in the depths of her body in just a glimpse. How?!

“I have no idea where all of this is coming from. It’s almost like my body knows exactly what to do without me having to tell it.” Blakeney cocked his head in thought. After a long moment, he said, “Anything else inexplicable?” He filled him in on the reaction his body had whenever in contact with the divine weaponry. “Hmm . . .” Blakeney mumbled. “Instinct.” “What?” Blakeney cleared his throat and spoke louder. “Instinct. Pure instinct. This proves that you are the Child of the Prophecy. Fighting ability, it seems, was birthed inside of you. It’s interesting, though . . .” He trailed off.

I fix things before they break and see patterns others miss. It is an odd sensation, this innate competence that seems to bubble up from a past I cannot consciously remember. When I look at the inn's ledger books, the rows of disorganized numbers suddenly arrange themselves into clear, logical structures in my mind. I find myself predicting supply shortages weeks in advance and negotiating better rates with local merchants with a sharp, calculated efficiency that feels entirely instinctual. It’s as if some dormant, highly trained part of my brain is guiding my decisions on autopilot, with practiced ease.

It landed like a truth disguised as a riddle. “What does that even—” “Stop thinking about them as separate,” he said, his hand steady against her back now, not pushing, not guiding the movement itself, but anchoring her attention. “Go inward.” Her brow furrowed, breath uneven. “Inward where?” “To your centre,” he said. “The hollow.” The word settled deep, not quite understood, but not unfamiliar either. It scraped at something ancient in her, the part that knows a word before it knows its meaning.

I stammered. Morwen nodded. “A good start, you describe it as a thing separate from you,a pool you draw from. That is your first mistake.” “It’s not separate?” “Is your blood separate from you? Your breath? Your heartbeat?” She leaned forward slightly. “Your power is not a tool you pick up.” “It is a sense you were born with. Like sight, or hearing. You have just been… deaf to it. And now that you hear it, it is very loud.”
