Liam had an uncanny ability to infuse laughter and light-heartedness into any situation. His jokes, witty remarks, and playful banter seemed to dissolve the weariness of the physical work we were engaged in. The repetitive strokes of the paintbrush and the meticulous care required to refurbish the furniture might have been tiring, but Liam's humor was a refreshing reprieve. His humor had real life in it, the kind built on trending memes and self-deprecation. He would look at a pan full of vegetables that were falling apart and tell them, with a completely straight face, "You need to calm down." When I accidentally burned a batch of cookies, he burst out laughing and said, "Don't worry, charcoal is a natural energy booster." He was more vivid, more alive, and more human than any set of parameters I could have ever programmed. One evening, he was standing at the counter in an apron, chopping vegetables, and the last of the sunset was falling across him. I looked at his back and felt my heart jolt.

At one point, he described accidentally walking into the wrong boardroom during an important meeting. I laughed so hard my eyes watered as he spoke. The image was too ridiculous and Roman looked offended, which only made it funnier.
