Iron Coffins Book Novels & Stories

The same grave he swore she wasn’t dead in. The diggers work fast, mercenaries I’ve hired under fake names, paid in crypto and silence. The soil gives way easily, too easily for something meant to have rested undisturbed for over a decade. When the spade strikes metal, I feel it in my bones. “Stop,” I say. The men step back. I climb down, mud pulling at my boots. My gloves scrape against the surface of a steel coffin, modern, industrial, nothing like the ornate box in the burial photos. Someone changed it.

After that, he took his cell phone back from Zayne’s hand before he turned around and left. Zayne wiped a handful of cold sweat from his forehead. After that, he immediately took out his satellite phone and called Porter, who was far away in Eastcliff. At this time, Porter was in the Porter family’s old family mansion, and he was looking at the dozens of cheap coffins that were piled up in the courtyard with great satisfaction. Each of these coffins was made out of thin and rotten broken wooden boards that had been put together. Although the coffin’s entire body was already painted with extremely poor-quality red paint, seams and gaps on the coffin board, which could fit a dollar coin, could

“I will tell you everything I know, but the Asplundh girls must be with me when I do so.” Dr. Sundt, therefore, returned to the public storage with Mogollon and the two Asplundh girls. Mogollon raised the heavy concrete slab and revealed the secret subterranean crypt where the coffins lay open. She recorded his descriptions of the killings done efficiently with his two sharp stakes. He answered many other questions, but Sundt never asked the giant about his past. She was solely interested in this one incident in his life.

As they sniffed around, I silently prayed they wouldn't bark. Not because I wanted Wayne to get away with it, but because disturbing Matthew and Lindey's rest felt so wrong. They deserved peace. But the dogs barked. Loud, sharp, aggressive barks aimed right at the coffin. "Open it," the officer ordered. Two officers jumped into the grave and started working. I shut my eyes, not ready for whatever was coming next. Then someone shouted, "We found it!" I opened my eyes reluctantly. The coffin's bottom had been pried open, and inside were stacks of sealed, sketchy-looking blocks.

We got to a corner and at the far end of it, there was a dimly lit platform that was shining in faint hues of gold and silver. And on the platform, two coffins were rested on a stone side by side. Kaiden stopped and let out a small gasp as if he was trying to gather strength before speaking. “We’re here,” he finally said moments later. I moved closer and stared at the strange symbols that were carved onto the surface of the coffins. One had a crest carved into it, it was a silver wolf howling upwards toward a crescent moon while the other coffin was smooth but it glowed faintly. It looked like the stones had absorbed a lot of magic and darkness.

Neera stood in her balcony, the skyline behind her glowing gold and steel. The letter burned quickly in the fireproof dish she kept for other purposes — evidence disposal, mostly. She watched it curl and blacken until nothing but ash remained. Kieran Renzaro’s offer — his arrogant, polished, impossible offer — was reduced to smoke. And she didn’t flinch. She wouldn’t play his game. Wouldn’t be someone’s pawn, no matter how shiny the paycheck or how seductive the power behind it. She wasn’t for sale.

It didn’t feel like mine to touch. And then—just as I was about to turn away—a spine caught the edge of my gaze. Not with color or glimmer, but with its silence. It was tucked almost too neatly between two broader tomes, their gilded edges crowding it as if to hide its presence. The binding was dark, a shade between bruised purple and coal, cracked with age, and unadorned save for a single phrase impressed in thin silver serif: “The Quiet Cull: A Forgotten History of Hybrid Extinction.”

Fresh earth was scattered everywhere, and the signs of desecration were glaringly obvious. "Olivia, stay calm! Don't look!" David embraced her tightly, turning her body away from the gruesome sight. Olivia's tears fell, mingling with the dirt and dust on her cheeks. "Mum... Mum... They can't! David, this is too much! Even in death, they won't let her rest in peace." "Why is the coffin missing? How is that possible? It can't be that the coffin was made of special material. It shouldn't have disintegrated in ten years, so why is it gone?" the woman said.

I held my breath as cracks started to appear in the stone floor around the coffin. THUD. THUD. THUD. The heartbeat grew louder and louder, and it was really noticeable. It started echoing throughout the room. It felt like a massive creature was breathing beneath our feet. "What the heck is this?" Alaric took a few steps back, holding the iron bar tightly in his hand. Simon opened his old book quickly, his hands shaking as he turned the pages. "I've read about this before," he said. "What?" Alaric said, "If you know something, say it now!"

“He believed they should leave behind truth.” She pointed toward the nearest coffin. “Each one protects a final confession.” Isaac slowly approached the blank coffin. His fingertips brushed the aged oak. “I helped build these.” Alexander looked at him. “You built coffins?” Isaac smiled sadly. “No.” “We built vaults shaped like coffins.” “To remind ourselves that every secret should eventually be buried.” A sharp metallic click echoed through the chamber. The blank coffin unlocked itself. Its lid rose slowly. Everyone instinctively stepped back. Inside…
