He swept a look up and down that was so hot she felt it on her skin. "But I do desire you." Little flames of shock raced all over Cassia’s body. His eyes had darkened, and his eyelids had lowered slightly so that they looked slumberous. He desired her? Lust is sad to be passionate, strong desire characterized mostly by some sexual craving. Now, one may argue that this shows agreed, while others defend themselves by saying that it is purely a feeling of yearning that we all go through at some point in our lives. The second explanation will lead to people believing that this feeling is normal and not something to be ashamed of. However, the first explanation may direct people to think that what they are feeling is an abomination, especially from a religious stand point.

It’s not always about touch.” His voice was low, steady, almost thoughtful enough to make the room feel smaller.

He stared at her elegant back, conscious of desire stirring to life almost instantly inside him. Ah yes, he remembered that feeling, not to mention his own uneasiness with the ferocity of it. But he could manage that. It was only physical desire, and he knew, if anyone did, that desire only meant what you wanted it to mean. Which to him was only pleasure, nothing more. There was nothing emotional about it. Emotions he avoided like the plague.

“Desire is no different. It isn’t just about the body. Sometimes, it’s tied to the heart.” He tilted his head slightly with his gaze softening just enough to make her pulse quicken. “But of course, desire is much easier to describe.” Emmeline’s irritation flared. She crossed her arms over her chest, her hazel eyes narrowing at him. “All you ever do is talk about how pretty and charming I am. You could go on about my body until morning without so much as pausing for breath. So don’t you dare blame me for misunderstanding your intentions and thinking this was just… lust.” Her tone was sharp and accusing.
