Novel & Cerita Is It Worth The Read

“But if you’re going that far just to carry out your plan or for revenge, then it’s not worth it, Skylar.” “I decide whether it’s worth it or not.”

she asked, her voice tinged with disbelief. She snickered again. “Am I missing something? I just don’t get the hype around reading books,” she commented. “I find it weird when someone can’t seem to live without reading. Honestly, I think it’s a total waste of time.” “You do not know what you’re missing!” Alaric exclaimed, his voice rising. He let out a soft scoff, his eyes locked intensely on hers. “Reading is not a waste of time. It never was, and it never will be,”

It was all worth it, sadly there were people who couldn't be there but the people who were present, added value to their life as well. It had all been a Royal Fuckery now it was Royal Pleasantries. But his tone wasn’t accusing. Just observational. “Rare things often draw attention.” I nodded. “They already have.” “I imagine they will continue to.” His voice remained calm. “Some people will talk.” His gaze sharpened slightly. “Sometimes from fear.” “Sometimes from jealousy.” He paused. “But rarity is not the same thing as wrong.” The words settled heavily in the quiet room. “The most important measure of your worth,” he continued gently, “is not what others decide to say about you.” His grey eyes held mine steadily.

You know, I'm pretty sure there are lots of people like me, who think the good old times were better when one could just sit and enjoy a good book rather than feeding our brains with all these filth the world cooks up these days. There are real and pressing issues to write about, things that really affect the public. So who cares if a celebrity has gotten a new car? Or if the Morrocan Prince is getting married to some Greek Princess? Who cares about the top ten hottest billionaires in America?" I asked, reading that last part from the cover of the magazine Wilma had with her, where a good-looking man posed seductively with his shirt all opened up, revealing his six packs. "Uhhh, I do. Plus,

"She didn't take it great, obviously, and the past week or so has been a complete nightmare, but... well, I'm gonna say it was worth it." Declan rolls his eyes, taking another sip of whiskey. When he lowers his glass, he says, "You know, you wouldn't have to deal with shit like this if you found someone who would actually give you a run for your money." "What the fuck are you talking about, Dec?" Reed sighs, trying to make knowing eye contact with me. I avoid looking back at him. "Find a woman who's actually worth falling for," Declan says, and Reed groans dramatically, shaking his head.

Now he’s staring at it incredulously. “What?” “The Jeweled Path can’t be your favorite book.” He looks up from the paper. “Please tell me you’re joking.” “I’m not joking,” I say, nettled. “Have you read it? It’s brilliant.” “I wasted thirty valuable seconds of my life downloading it and skimming the first chapter.” He pulls a face. “I want those thirty seconds back.” “You obviously missed the point,” I say, offended. “It’s really insightful if you read it carefully.”

But the ache in my gut twists like a cold, sharp hook. I bury it. Crushing it under a layer of ice. Freezing it in place. "Don't be ridiculous," I scoff, walking to the wardrobe and unbuttoning my jacket. "I don't have a sentimental bone in my body." "Then why the book?" she asks, unzipping her dress. "It’s an asset," I lie smoothly. "First editions appreciate in value. It’s a better investment than that paperback trash you usually read. Put it in the safe if you want to protect the equity."

"You'll give me a huge sum of money and I'll give you a lady. She's quite interesting, unique and I'm sure you'll like her." "Hmm. Why don't you have her for yourself then?" "Because I want money instead. I don't want her. I'm fine with her." I raise a brow and stare at him. He's wise but with the use of his words, I can tell he can't be trusted. "So basically, she's the life in exchange for a huge sum of money?" "Yes." "A life you are done with." "Yes." "That isn't worthy enough." He nods. "She's useless to you so I doubt she'll be of any use to me too "
