Letting their closeness comfort me, the way it always has. It’s not too long before Issac comes back with three books handing each of us a book. I look over the maroon colored book that looks to be centuries old and place my fingers over the title. ‘The Golden Goddess.’ My eyes look back up to Issac and he smiles. “We don’t have a lot on the golden wolf here. Maybe the king can help us get a few more books to research. Or we can ask him what he knows.” He says and I shake my head, “I don’t want to know what he knows. If the books are out there, I’ll find them myself.” Issac looks disappointed but nods and looks back at the book.

“Wait, you found that?” I could feel color burning across my cheeks. “It wasn’t exactly well hidden.” “It was in the back of my closet behind several heavy boxes of books.” “Y-yeah,” I stuttered. “I had to figure out how many books were deemed not good enough for your home library.” Isaac rolled his eyes but didn’t press. I wondered if I’d be paying for snooping later. I wondered if I was looking forward to that. “I have a very big request of you, Maise,” Isaac grumbled, breaking the tense silence. “You can say no.”

He spoke shaking his head. “I’m sorry King Orrick,” Isaac apologized, hands clenched tightly on the hilt of his sword, “I can’t let this plan come to past.” Isaac is a fair slender young gentleman in his early twenties, having short dark curls with no sign of maturity in his looks. Isaac is also a Prince, heir to the throne of the second most powerful Western Kingdom, North Farancia and son to King Gorge Lupin. King Orrick gazed closely behind Jerrod and set his eyes on two young men clad in black armor stepping out of the forest, one was huge and timid looking the other was lean and sick looking, having the gaze of a dying man.

Axel looked at Liora and said, "This document…" Before Axel could finish his sentence, Liora covered his mouth hastily. "Please help me with something, Axel." Axel looked at her in silence. Liora passed a few charms to Axel. "Isaac's room." Axel came to understand after taking a glance. "Okay, I understand." Liora returned to her room and put her thoughts into a document she sent to Isaac. Meanwhile, Isaac just got out of the shower. He was startled by the charms that were put on his room's door and windows. He swallowed his saliva, sat in front of his laptop, and clicked on the email Liora sent.

Really gotta take the small wins when we can. "W-Where the fuck am I?" Isaac stammers, his wide eyes darting around the steel-walled room like he's expecting a trap door or some secret tunnel to pop open and save his sorry ass. Spoiler alert: there isn't. It's just me and him. And the fact that he won't be breathing for much longer. I exhale lazily, flicking ash onto the cold metal floor. "Congrats, you won an all-expenses-paid trip to Fuck Around and Find Out Land."

Ben whispers, mostly to himself, as he shakes his bundle. “You go first, Isla,” Maddox says, taking Isaac’s bundle from my hands. I smile, tearing open the bundle and looking down at a small, worn book with no title and leather cover. I pull a piece of dried lavender from between the pages, but when I open the book, there is no text inside. “How strange,” I say over the sound of paper ripping and people remarking about their own gifts.

She dug her fingers between the pages, trying desperately to get it open, but it wouldn’t move. “Stupid book.” “Uh, guys?” Isaac called, sounding panicked and a bit surprised. They turned towards him, seeing him with a book in his hands that looked like the very existence of supernaturals. He met their eyes, and the shock and uncertainty made Syanna’s stomach fall. “You have to see this.”

And unfortunately for me, Felicia can hear whatever I mindlink or get mind linked. Isaac returns and I feel the power of Alpha Xavier Before he even appears. He finally walks through a door and sits on his throne. We all kneel in his presence to show our respect. “Alpha Xavier, thank you for permitting us to meet you.” I say standing from my bent position. “It is indeed a pleasure.” Melissa says and smiles. “The pleasures all mine, Isaac here says you are his mate, we’ve been looking for you for years, can you believe that,” Xavier chuckles.

Liora smiled gently, adding, “That’s a good idea, Xavier. Maybe it could help ease your burdens.” Xavier closed the book, then looked at Isabelle. For the first time, his face softened clearly. “Thank you.” That simple word made Isabelle’s eyes glisten. She quickly lowered her head to hide her emotions. “I just wanted to do something for you.” Xavier looked at Liora, then back at Isabelle. “You already have, more than you realize.” Isabelle fell silent, then nodded slowly. “In that case, from now on we’ll read novels together, and sometimes we can talk about that journal too—if your brother agrees,” Liora said.

I need to go to the bathroom so badly and pray that I don’t actually pee myself. “You are a lucky woman, Kenna. Isaac has already got back to me. But get this, the cunt wants to bargain.” He snorts and laughs like this is the funniest joke he’s heard this year. And Isaac, what a total shit wanting to bargain. “Doesn’t surprise me, he is a businessman,” is all I can say. How did I know that Isaac would try to get the ransom down. “He has agreed to pay me five million since he already has had Xander contact him to say he will pay five million. You are one lucky woman,” he lets out a low whistle. “Trust me some people are not this cherished.”
