I placed the papers on the table, neat and tidy. I was going to leave a message for her, but I did not go through with it. Instead, I said it in my mind, 'Hey honey, this is the last time I'm calling you that, I guess. I spent ten years in love with you. It's really hard doing that, I know, but I'm giving up anyway. Congratulations, to both you and me.' I grabbed my suitcase. The moment the countdown was over, I put my hand on the doorknob.

She wasn’t sure how long they sat there, lost in the quiet, but for the first time in a long time, she wasn’t in a rush to be anywhere else.

It was covered in grease stains. I let out a dry laugh and went to the bedroom to grab my suitcase. At least there was one upside to traveling all the time. I'd never unpacked, so there was nothing to pack anyway. But I was so exhausted that I ended up falling asleep sitting on the floor of the closet. My phone woke me up. It was Diana. "Ivy, check the trending page right now. Dexter got caught cheating." I opened the link, still half-asleep, and then shot upright.

"Dad, Mom, I regret it. "You were right. Ines Sutherland was never the right person for me. I want to come home."
