I pick it up and I see that I have a new text message. It’s from Jimmy, I remember saving his number when we were at The Lounge. I open the text and it only has three words. It reads: “Quincy, she’s gone.” ............ My heart races as my mind conjures explanations for me. Who is he talking about? Is his wife dead? Oh gosh, no. I click on his number and it begins to ring. Expecting him to answer, I begin to find something to wear so I can go over to him; but he doesn’t.

Then again. She did not trust Marshall. She had not trusted Marshall since a pavement three weeks ago and she was not about to start now because he had sent her a text that sounded like conscience. He answered before the second ring. “I was about to call you. Ruth just—” “Marshall texted me,” she said. “Read it.”

To distract my mind I opened my messenger finding 10 of Remo's text messages. "Okay. Nothing happened. I am not going to force you to tell me, sweets." "Why did you say Good night. I want to talk to you, Jackie. Talk to me." "Listen if you are angry because of my words. I am sorry again." "Jackie I wasn't prying into your life. I just wanted to know what's bothering you. Because that's what friends do. Aren't we friends?" "You left. This is wrong Jacky. Aren't we supposed to share each other's pain?"

“Someone had connection to a US state senator who bought the club and you know, politicians do shady shit, they have announced to the public that this is what the club is all about, with backings and shit.” I quickly ended the call and faced Jackie with a huge grin on my face. She was smiling too, tears in her eyes. I went over to her and sat beside her then she grabbed my hands and squealed. I laughed at her reaction then stopped when I got notified that I got a text. She left my hands and I checked the message. “I’ll go get some drinks. We must celebrate! I’m going to get wine for you and some juice for me.” She got up and went to the kitchen.

“There are no tickets. I wouldn’t come to him . . . when he called me, so this is his way of getting my attention.” Matt’s eyebrows went up. “You mean to get you to come to him.” Jackie thought for a moment. “I suppose so.” Then she got angry. “He’s holding my Mustang hostage!” she yelled with realization. “He probably has my baby in some dirty garage!” Matt smirked. “I think I see now.” “See what?” Jackie asked and put her hands on her hips. He put the papers down on his stomach and put his hands behind his head. “I’m going to level with you, Jackie. I had a chat with Dalton yesterday. He said I might hear from you today and requested that I forward you - to him.”

An unknown number texted me. 'I heard you found out, Wisteria. When Jackie heard I was scared, he promised he'd come back to my place tonight. I hope your empty house isn't too icy for your taste.'
