Ugh, I feel like I have to start this by saying I never really warmed up to the whole Jacob/Renesmee thing in 'Breaking Dawn'—it always sat weird with me. So looking for fanfics about them was more about seeing if writers could fix that icky imprinting premise for me than pure ship love.

I stumbled on one called 'Fault Lines' on AO3 a while back that actually managed it. The author treated the imprint as this intense, mystical bond but didn't make it romantic from the get-go. Instead, it was about Jacob grappling with his lost autonomy and Renesmee growing into her own person, pushing back against the destiny forced on them. The dynamic felt more like a deeply messed-up found family than a foregone conclusion, which worked way better for my brain.

There's also 'Chiaroscuro', which is a complete AU where the imprint never happens. They meet as strangers years later, with Renesmee having lived away from the Cullens. The stories that work treat it as an arranged supernatural alliance or a bond that evolves into something else entirely, often years later. A fic called 'Covenant' handled it by having them live separately for decades before meeting as equals. It's less creepy and way more about shared burdens.

You need a writer willing to completely rebuild their relationship from the ground up. Found family or slow-burn political marriage tropes end up feeling more authentic than trying to sell the insta-love imprinting. I mostly look for crossovers with darker fantasy series now – the 'Twilight'/'The Originals' mashups sometimes get the tone right.
