I pull back and scrunch my nose. He ruffles my hair as he does our cocker spaniel, and slaps me on the back. As if I need another reason—besides being the same bra size since ninth grade—for him to think I’m a little kid. “This is Jaden,” Adam says, gesturing toward me. “This is Cade.” I turn to gaze up at him when something catches my attention. A long-legged blonde staggers toward us from the far hallway. Adam smiles. “And this is Sadie.”

I breathed and he nodded slowly. "Did you know him?" I asked and he raised a quizzical brow. "Who?" "Daniel Hills. Jaden said he's an old friend. I was just wondering if you've met him before" I said. "Dan used to be just like Jaden in high school. He had several tattoos. He was the brooding type" I was surprised. Jaden had told me Daniel was the CEO of Halls Law firm. It was surprising to know that he'd once been a typical high school bad boy.
