Jane Austen Romantic Novels Novels & Stories

She points a playful finger at me, her smile kind. Taking the hint, I retreat to the living room, feeling slightly rebuffed but understanding her concern. Not really in the mood for TV, I wander over to the massive bookcase and pull out “Emma” by Jane Austen, I've been wanting to read it since I finished “Pride and Prejudice” but we didn’t have it at the Beta’s house, and our school library didn’t stock it either. Feeling a little spark of joy at my small find, I curl up on the sofa to start reading, letting the quiet of the room wrap around me like a comforting blanket.

In the center of the room stood an imposing mahogany desk with a leather chair. In front of it was a large black chaise longue resting on a round white rug. The atmosphere was luxurious yet discreet. Magnificent. I spent several minutes simply admiring the most beautiful room I had ever entered. Then I slowly walked along the shelves, stopping when I reached Historical Romance. Romance novels were what had brought me this far as a virgin. They were my Achilles’ heel, and there was nothing I could do about it. I picked up my cliché: Pride and Prejudice.

"You're finally giving Leo a chance." There was a hint of approval in his voice, "He's not that bad." I said as Leo nestled close to me making sure my leg touched his fur. "What are you reading?" He asked. "Dark lord, care to join me in a world of romance?" I asked, teasing him as I showed him the cover page. "Ah! Jane Austen." He said and I laughed so he was the one reading the book? "I didn't take you for the romance kind of girl." He said and I smiled "We'll, I'm not."

Well, aren't you his fan? "Do you have something else in mind?" he asks in a normal tone of voice, ignoring my question. How rude! I scowl, but I’m hardly affected. "Um . . . Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen," I tell him. "Or maybe . . . Sense and Sensibility?" I contradict my own choices, and he smiles at it. "Is Jane Austen your favorite?" he asks, a sweet glow in his cool eyes. "If we're speaking of Classic romance, then yes, she's my favorite. I prefer happy ending than tragedies, and Jane Austen always grants my wish." I go dreamy; oblivious of whom I'm talking to.

George said, "What?" Lucas asked, "A love novels catalogue?" Charles asked, "Did you send it to the wrong place? Did you actually plan to send it to your girlfriend instead?" Christin said, "Girls like to read domineering CEO related romance novels. Dear guys, please read them carefully, study them, and try your best to please or flatter your wife. This is a catalogue of a collection of series I specially chose of storylines about how to spoil the girlfriend. I excluded those storylines that break somebody's heart as I definitely couldn't bear to do that.

Jimmy said to Susan. She laughed. “She’s going to be a famous writer. She’d better have some opinions on literature.” “Fine,” Kimia glared at me. “Jane Austin. She had some great leads.” “Darcy was an asshole to Elizabeth, Bingly let himself be talked away from Jane, Wickham is just a bastard, Wentworth treated Anne like shit because she refused him as a teenager, Edmund Bertram was obsessed with the pretty new girl and forgot about Fanny, Ferras fell in love with Elanore when he was engaged to someone else, Brandon was still hung up on his dead ex, and let’s face it. Nobody cares about Northanger Abbey.”

"It's not my fault, I love the book." "I am not a fan of it." "You love romantic books, you have always loved them." "I love happy endings. All love stories should have happy endings. Isn't that what love is about?" "The greatest love stories don't have happy endings though. The fault in our stars is another example." "Pride and prejudice gave Elizabeth and Mr Dacey a happy ending," Emma said. "Anna kareanin was bittersweet though." "Romance novels deserve happy endings only, I can't take the heartbreaks that happen at the end. Love is sweet, so why suffer for it."

“This is ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Jane Austen. It’s a love story that many women adore.” Jack took the book and examined the cover. “It looks interesting. What else would you recommend?” The sales assistant continued selecting books, giving a brief description for each one. “Oh, and we also have some romantic adventure books, like ‘Treasure Island’ by Robert Louis Stevenson, which focuses more on adventure and pirates.” Jack listened carefully and selected several books with the assistant’s guidance. “I think she’ll like these,” he said, smiling. The sales assistant smiled back, growing a bit curious about the lucky woman who had managed to tie down a confirmed bachelor like Jack Colt.

“Because I do. Most of these modern book relationships don’t make sense. They wouldn’t work in real life. He’s toxic and she’s too naive, but hey, their s*x scenes are terrific and at this point, that’s all I’m here for.” I sighed deeply. What was with my mouth lately? I was no longer thinking before speaking. “So I’m guessing you prefer the older romance stories, like Jane Eyre whose man is double her age or Pride and Prejudice who had to marry for wealth or else she would be done for,” he said, looking at me with an amused expression. “Ok. Fair point,” I agreed with him. “But I never said I liked the older romance novels either. I’m an English major and I really believe some of these books

She slapped my arm. Laughing, I dodged her attacks and scooted closer to the bus window. “Enlighten me about this great Pride and Prejudice favorite of yours then.” “Don’t you underestimate my preference. It’s a Jane Austen Classic.” She boasted proudly. “Yeah? And then?” She sighed while my grin grew wider. I found it amusing that she’s getting all so fed up by defending her favorite novel. The more I looked unconvinced, she grew more frustrated.
