Nothing about it was fair any more. These past few years Jane had begun to accept the fact that she wasn't one of the Waleskis. And she had started writing a book called the Unfair Life of Jane, Plain, and Short. It wasn't a real book, just a list of experiences and even that made Jane wonder whether the universe had something in the particular against her. For example:

Mara’s face lit up instantly. “Jane!” she said, stepping forward and wrapping her arms around a woman who looked… polished. Jane hugged her back, one arm careful because she was holding a stack of books, leather-bound, heavy, the kind people carried to look important. “Good to see you outside your cave,” Mara teased. “Though judging by those books, you’re about to disappear again.” Jane smiled, tight and controlled. “Probably,” she said. “But I’ll make time for you two. I always do.”

All the nights of binge watching ‘The Conjuring’, ‘It’ and ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ came rushing back to her like a smothering tidal wave. She had a hard time finding the switch, her hands were shaking too much but finally, the porch light went on, spilling a warm yellow glow onto…Jane! Of all people! “Open the door! It’s me, Jane!” A chorus of four letter words exploded from Marie’s lips and she threw the tissue box away to yank open her door. “What in the world! Oh…” A cheque flew in her face and Marie blinked and her eyebrows twitched. It was a one million dollar cheque with her name on it. A ONE MILLION DOLLAR CHEQUE!

Inside were a dozen video files, each labeled by date. My hand shook as I clicked the first. My mother’s face filled the screen. She looked younger than the last time I saw her, her hair pinned back neatly, eyes clear but shadowed by worry. She was sitting in her bedroom, the wallpaper I remembered from childhood behind her. “If you’re watching this, Stella,” she began, her voice soft but steady, “then something has gone very wrong. I don’t want to frighten you, but I need you to understand. The Marwoods are not simply a powerful family. They are a dangerous one. I’ve seen too much to believe otherwise.”

Maria asked with a tone of disgust "yes ma'am" Jane replied her heart was pound

Her rainbow eyes revealed mischief but she exhaled in relief and took a look at the remaining green bottle in her hand before whispering some words and materializing. Jane took an evening bath and got herself ready to meet her mysterious husband. She had received a call from Mister Paul earlier reminding her not to be late. She took a cab and went to Old Madam Ryan's mansion. It seemed like everyone around was already aware of her new status as she was being referred to as Young Madam. She got to the sitting room and met the Matriarch seated on a huge chair with a magazine in her hands. She was flipping the pages when she noticed Jane walking in timidly. She beamed at her.

Ted felt like he was getting to know Jane, and he was amazed by the depth of her emotions. The diary reveals Jane's struggles with Ted's mother, her feelings of isolation and loneliness in the mansion, and her deep love for Ted. Ted's eyes welled up with tears as he read about Jane's pain and heartache. A part of her diary that got him was, “My husband's mother thought I’m a gold digger. How can I prove to her I’m not what she thinks I am? Should I reveal the secret I buried in my heart? Ted's eyes widened as he read the passage, his mind racing with questions. What secret could Jane be hiding? Why had she never mentioned it to him before? He felt a pang of guilt for not being more supportiv

“That bitch! How did she get so rich? I am sure, she married someone richer than us! She sold her body for money—” “We are still not sure if Ms. Ambers is Jane. Also, I came here to eat dinner with my family, not talk about business matters. Ms. Brown, if you want to talk about something that is not relevant right now, the door is open and you’re free to leave.” Gray put an end to the chaos. Geraldine Moore was interrupted by her one and only son, Aerah had a disbelief expression on her face, while Gray’s whore had her cheeks red with embarrassment. I was the only one who remained calm and composed.

She threatened me and I laughed mockingly. “Oh really? You really think you can land me in jail? It seems you don’t really know me. Let me refresh your memory. I am Jane, just Jane. I don’t belong to anybody, I don’t belong to any leverage. I am just me. And nobody messes with Jane. You know why? Because I know all your little secrets that can make you look terrible in front of the judge. Now, to avoid wasting words with you, I will just send you the documents on your W******p phone and you go through it. So you see what I know about you is heavyweight and trust me, you don’t want the entire country to know it. Because you will be spending the rest of your life in jail.” I threatened her bac
