I leaned in for a kiss. "How'd the talk go-" I slammed my lips against his before he could finish his question, "mmm... Jade." he groaned into my mouth, sending waves of heat coursing through my body, down between my thighs. He grabbed my waist and pulled me into his lap. I began to grind myself against his growing erection. "Wait Jade, we need to talk." Uh-oh. "Look I-" The sound of a door slamming shut came from outside my door and the next thing I know, my brother barges into my room. He stared at us for a moment before stumbling and passing out on the floor.

It contained the necklace Mother had left me. That was all I needed. Before leaving, I spotted Lucian's private journal in the study. The most recent entry read. "She may have despicably forced the mating ritual through her family's powers back then, but after these past six months, I've started to grow used to having her quietly around. It was your vengeful patient who poisoned me! Have you completely forgotten?" Jasper glared with disgust. "Even now, you're still lying! You've survived the danger, so get out of my hospital. People like you are bad luck!"

That wasn't me, I look back and see Jasmine walking up to us, some wolves trailing behind her. Wolf Xavier looks back at jasmine, snarling and snapping his Jaws at her. At the sight of his teeth, I see my life flash before my eyes. “Stand down.” Jasmine snaps, I could see annoyance in her eyes. His eyes flashed to her, wild. “XAVIER!” she shouted, her voice louder, laced with something stronger. Xavier let out a roar, half fury, half anguish. For some reason I could tell that he was angry and sad because he couldn't mark his mate. He moved back away from me, allowing me to stand up.

His squinting eyes narrow, highlighting the band-aid covering the bridge of his nose. "Let's focus on the present, shall we?" I tighten my grip on his hair, and he groans in pain. Those gorgeous eyes flash hate and anger, reserved exclusively for me, while others only spark irritation and boredom within them... I like it. "Kiss me again," Jasper whispers, his voice heated, his eyes daring me. The evil glint in his eyes tells me he's sober. My heart skips a beat, and the haze clears. "I'm straight, loser." " Jasper's face froze again when I brought Sasha up. He then looked at the empty water bottle on the ground and frowned. "So what? Avery was thirsty. We can always locate more water. I will bring it back for Sasha next time." Jasper said it so calmly, and yet, I froze in my spot in disbelief. So, did I deserve to be killed just over a bottle of water that could always be located again? I smiled despite tears streaming down my face. I spoke clearly, making sure every word could be heard. "Let's get divorced, Jasper. When I finally get back, I will tell Sasha that her father, who used to love her in the past, is already dead."

Then a short, shocked laugh escapes because that’s the only sound I can make that doesn’t sound like a sob or a moan. “Girlfriend or wife?” I repeat, voice a little shaky even though I’m trying to be sassy. “Connor, you can’t just drop that on a girl while she’s still in your bed and wearing yesterday’s mascara. Especially not after I basically dry-humped you on your couch twelve hours ago.” One corner of his mouth twitches but his eyes stay intense. “I’m not joking.” “I know you’re not.” I swallow and force myself to hold his gaze. “That’s what makes it terrifying.”

With everything that had happened, they could only hope he would eventually move on. But Samuel clearly wasn't ready to accept reality. He looked up, his eyes bloodshot, and spoke firmly. "Mom, Dad, believe me. Bella isn't dead. She's just hiding from me. As long as I sincerely finish writing these, she will forgive me and come back to me!" With those words, he lowered his head again, continuing to write the apology letters that Isabella would never see. Seeing how stubborn Samuel had become, Eleanor cried out and turned to Tristan.
