"No, that was horrifying." "Oh, it does?" I asked and smiled creepily. Hein didn't react. She just looked at me. I used that chance to examine her face. There was no nervousness in her eyes when I looked at her. What's that? I thought she thought of me as a horrifying beast? It feels like we're in a staring contest. No one is breaking the stare. "Leave my mate alone and me," I uttered. "A human mated to a nine-tailed fox? How sure you are?"

My mouth waters as I stare at the mouth-watering specimen in front of me. He sends me a warning glare before saying, “Ciccino, don’t give me that look” I look at him innocently, something that Ava’s Persian white kitten does with her after breaking her dishes or pooping outside the litter box. “What look?” I blink my eyes in mock confusion and watch him narrow his eyes at me. He starts sauntering in my direction like a predator nearing his prey and raises my face by using two of his fingers underneath my jaw. My eyes level with his and I open my mouth to drag air inside my lungs as his hungry gaze sweeps over my body.

Shirley asked, struggling to suppress her smile. "There is nothing wrong with my eyes so why would you call a doctor?" Zane asked, then he continued to give his best attempt at doing a puppy dog eyes "Are you really sure that there is nothing wrong with your eyes? You have been blinking nonstop for the past fifteen to twenty seconds and currently, you look like a cat that was hit by a moving train. I am going to call the doctor now to do a thorough checkup," Shirley said then she brought out her phone to pretend that she was actually calling a doctor.

Twice. A scene of nostalgia rushed over me. A cat. That same black cat. It stared at me from across the window. “What are you staring at?” I tilted my gaze to Zilla, shoving an index finger at the cat. Her brows rose as she leaned in. “What?” “Right there.” I pointed again, this time turning towards its direction, but nothing was there. Her brows arched. “Right where?” My hand slowly dropped to my thighs. Was I finally losing my mind?

“Nobody here needs a lesson on demon facts and studies.” They’re crazy. I thought. Really.. really psychos. “Our friend here looks like he needed it.” My obsessive stalker apparently named Zane raised his head, before lifting a corner of his lips, and I had a feeling that he was more dangerous than his other two friends. There was something fierce about the aura that ooze out of him. It reminded me of the lions i watch in NATGEO WILDS— a documentary about animals. The way the big cats would raise their heads and how their eyes pierce through the forests. Their nostrils sniffing the air for an unfortunate prey.

The blood was not mellow in Jenny's head. Jenny came back to her senses, a little embarrassed, what did she want to do just now? Too violent! Definitely infected! Thinking that she raised her head and glared at Daniel, "Huh!" loudly, then turned her head away without looking at him. The man who was angry at the dog and beat the cat with an inexplicable expression, Jenny's eyes twitched.

Jane I look up and meet his fierce gaze. The warrior’s eyes are filled with a murderous intensity that sends fear coursing through me. Despite my trembling heart, I try to maintain my composure. Thoughts of escape race through my mind, but I remain rooted to the spot, unable to move. His piercing stare seems to suffocate me, making it difficult to draw a breath. Once more, he glares at me with a look that could kill. I understand that he is only trying to intimidate me, but in that moment, I am unfazed.

Why don’t I like this guy? Jinx runs to the coffee table and sniffs. Drool strings from his mouth as his eyes flicker between the food and Alejandro, waiting for the command. Conversations stop and start as I pass, eyes tracking me like I'm a deer walking through a pack of predators. Which, I suppose, I am. I find a seat near Cassian and Leo, letting their presence shield me from the worst of the stares. And then I feel it. A gaze, heavier than the others. I look up. Jax stands across the hall, a cup in his hand, speaking to one of his wolves. But his eyes are on me. He doesn't smile. Doesn't wink or nod or do anything overt. He just... inclines his head. A fraction.
